Hello Folks,
Time to do some Macro Photos, Since the weather is getting cold outside this would be for someone who prefers to do some indoor work during cold times.

What : Macro Shoot.
Where : Front main entrance at Allan Gardens.
When : Saturday 29th December 2012 at 10.00 am
Bring : Your Camera and you.
Cost : Free event.

Additional Info:

Allan Gardens (founded in 1858) is one of the oldest parks in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It has a conservatory (greenhouse), a playground and two fenced off-leash areas for dogs. It is operated by Toronto Parks who also run Centennial Park Conservatory. It is open every day of the year and is free.

I don't have permission to shoot this event from the past experience we never had any issue so I assume it will be fine this time as well.

Some pics shot in Allan Gardens

Thank you

TPMGer's are encouraged to visit Allan gardens if you haven't before. The 5 greenhouses are a wonderful experience and the staff regularly change the floral displays. I've been many times and the displays are always excellent to superb. Expect to stay about 1.5 hours longer than expected. Hidden displays include passion fruit, stinking orchids, the pineapple, and turtles. Permits are required only for weddings, commercial or broadcast photography; there are large photo, school and family groups there every day. Consider outer wear that is easily removed and carried as several of the greenhouses are tropical, hot and humid.

3 blocks east of College subway station, street parking on all sides but its the worst part of town with 5 men's missions across the streets. Recommend going down to Distillery district after for refreshments, there's not much attractive in immediate area.

They have not said anything about tripods any time I have been there. As long as you don't obstruct anyone walking by it should be ok.

Yes the staff asked us to get permit from the Gov...
but let us shoot for 1 hour this time. But we mentioned him about TPMG.
But if you are an alone by yourself I dont see any problem with it.

Had an issue a year or two ago with this especially around the Christmas time when they had more people in and some weddings. They backed off some, as sometimes they do not bother you. They had said organized groups needed to set up a time and date to see if they could accommodate you with not much traffic then, but it was free still. They would usually allow you an hour or so. It also depends on who is working there as to this person being more of pain about the rules.

That's what I thought --- permits are only for commercial purposes. And I didn't think that changed. I can see their point however about arranging a time for amateur photo groups -- that makes sense, because its a pain if a group is coming at the same time that they have 6 wedding permits booked. I get it. But this charging stuff is for the birds :)
