Hello All,

UPDATE - the weather is finally cooperating but I'm still really sick. I do not know if this weekend will be a go. If someone else wishes to take over please do, as I do not know when I'm going to be able to run this. Thanks.

Due to being extremely sick and the crappy weather (and the world not actually ending) I am postponing this event until next week. It will either be Friday or Saturday evening. If people have a preference please state so in this thread, majority wins - unless my personal schedule dictates otherwise


Again this year Downsview Park does not seem to be putting omits large Xmas light display it has in the past. What a bummer as I've never had a chance to shoot this! So with that in mind lets go in search of some Xmas Lights downtown.

What: Photos of Xmas Lights
Where: Downtown - Nathan Phillip Square, Yonge St, University Ave, etc
When: Friday, December 21, 2012 @ 6pm (we'll meet at Nathan Philips Square and go from there)
Bring: camera, tripod, remote release, warm clothes
Cost: just cost to get yourself downtown and maybe some food for munches later

There is no specific set plan - so if people hear of some good spots to check out we'll head in that direction. I'm sure there might be some neighbourhoods downtown that may have large light displays.

About how long do you expect to shoot?

Don't know - I guess until we get tired or cold lol

Sounds good. Unfortunately I already have plans for the end of the world.

I should still scope out that other place we talked about...

I will see how long it takes to get downtown this Friday before making a decision.

Still no interest? Is everyone worried about the end of the world thing?

Ben - doesn't it make sense to have a party the day before the end of the world? Cause if it does end won't it most likely happen before your party even starts? Lol

I checked the time when the subway went through Queen station last night, and it was 7:20pm. If you think you will still be shooting, I can join you around that time.

In fact, the party is set for the night before. Messiah is on the 21st!

I might come out Jordan, gotta wait and see how everything is progressing of course.

I'm hearing lots of maybes - how about some sign-ups!! Come on people - don't you want to be downtown ready to photograph the end of the world - just in case it happens!

Janet - you have my number - just text me when u get down and I'll let u know where we are. Just one caveat - the weather is currently calling for rain. If it does rain that evening I will most likely call it off, especially with no firm attendees. If its cold enough and just snows we will be on for sure - my camera does not like the rain

I was planning to text before getting on the subway to see if you'll still be shooting when I get downtown.

I will be late, getting off work at 630pm near airport.

According to this link: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/maya it says the world ends at 6:11am Toronto time. If you're event is still on, it means the world didn't end, and I still have to make car payments...

Hey All,

I hate to do this but I'm going to postpone this event until next week - Friday in the evening (maybe Saturday). Between me being sick and the weather not cooperating I want to wait until we get some snow on the ground (and not rain). I will make the final decision tomorrow morning after checking the weather one last time.

I can do Saturday, and be on time. I still plan on bringing the camera to work tomorrow though.

Even officially postponed until next week. Either Friday or Saturday evening. Those of you still interested please state your preference.

Sorry I couldn't make it, one of my friends got very sick and I just got back from visiting her

That's ok as I'm sick and had to postpone the event until next week. So far the Saturday is the more popular choice.
