IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN TO CHECK OUT A PIONEER CHRISTMAS EVENT

We will meet in the parking lot for 4:45pm - 5:00pm where we shall head inside. The Village will be lit with with Candles inside and outside of the many buildings. There is a free horse and wagon rides around the Village. Refreshments & Snacks are available inside the Keene Hotel to warm up. At 7:30pm on the Sunday witness the live NATIVITY by the Keene United Church. Not sure if we will have any snow on the ground then as it always looks so pretty with the snow.

We will shoot until everyone is feeling cold or done shooting generally it has been around 7:00 or 8:00pm or perhaps somewhere after the Nativity performance finishes. We will then head to a nearby Restaurant for some Food & Drinks and to Warm-Up. If you are cold meet inside the admission building. At the back there are a few seats and displays to see, it is also near the bathrooms. You can grab a warm beverage at the Keene Hotel (Hot Chocolate, Coffee, & snacks).

Do remember to DRESS WARMLY as this is an outside event. Bring your warm winter coat, warm sweater, hat, gloves/mitts, scarf/neck warmer, warm pants/snow pants, warm socks, warm foot wear of boots is recommended, and don't forget your long johns as your base layer. Remember we will be outdoors shooting for approximately 3 hours. You can warm up with a hot beverage at the Keene Hotel or the main registration building.

I have heard the Bancroft Camera Club will also be attending. Good time to meet some other fellow photographers. There is a member there from the TPMG I am hoping to see, since she moved to Bancroft.

Carpooling can be arranged in the tread. I have some space in my Van for a few passengers needing a ride. Pick-up locations will be either at Kennedy Subway or Guildwood GO Station. Driving time from Scarborough is approximately 1 1/2 hours longer from Downtown or the West End. I will be planning about 2 1/2+ hours driving time and pick-up time to get there based on the Go schedule.

If you need my cell phone # please PM me.

Hope to see you all there.

I'd prefer the Saturday (like it says in the post), but the 9th is really a Sunday (like it says in the headline).

Sorry I couldn't come .... I didn't realize that we were attending a memorial at 2:30pm in Wasaga Beach .... by the time we'd be leaving - it wouldn't be worth trying to come.

Thanks everyone for coming out to Christmas by Candlelight at Lang Pioneer Village. It was nice to see everyone even for a brief period of time.

After everyone left at 7:00pm, I stayed to see the Live Nativity Scene, it was cool they had some live animals too. A Cow, Donkey, & Sheep. It started snowing then. It did change over to snow pellets mixed with freezing rain. Was fairly crowded so not good for photos, especially from the side, needed to be more in the center. Yes I did need to scrape the ice off the van when I headed out around 8:40pm. There were still lots of cars still there but it had thinned out some.

I think I got some pretty cool shots, while playing with the lights and shadows, as well as some detail shots.

It was a slower drive on the way home. Got on 115 and there was not a car in site except for a ways up. Lots of salt trucks out, off & on again at the ramps/exits. It was warming up approaching Toronto and the weather just changed to rain before the 401. Then it was smooth sailing the
rest of the way home.

I know many of you were there earlier in the day. Hope you all had a great time too.

It was good to see a fellow TPMG friend from Bancroft too.

Again thanks for coming out.

Maureen

No snow on the ground but it wasn't too cold either which was nice. Lang is always nice to visit.
Just wish the nice weather kept up on the way home. The freezing rain was a little nasty but gave us an excuse to go to Tim Hortons :)
Thanks Maureen.

Tim

I went home via 115->7A->12->47->Davis Dr->404->Green Lane.

7A, 12, and 47 had some bad spots. Green Lane in newmarket was a mess with vehicles stopped on the side of the road who could not negotiate the hill at Green Lane/Bathurst.

I like my X-Ice 2's after last night.

Thanks Maureen I enjoyed the outing.

Ran into some freezing rain and snow about half way back to Brighton but nothing too drastic.
