What: Grindstone Creek From the Bottom to the Top
Where: Starting at Aldershot GO Station in Burlington NORTH PARKING LOT.
When: Sunday Oct. 14th 9:30AM
Bring: Camera Equipment including tripods and various ND filters if you got em. Comfortable walking shoes, rain gear, hip waders ;), snacks, money for parking & post creek munching. Dress warm!
Additional Info: Since people enjoyed Grindstone Creek so much at the waterfall event we decided it'd be a good spot of its own. We'll start at the top in Waterdown at Waterdown/Great/Grindstone Falls and hike to the bottom in Aldershot. This will take at least a few hours as we poke along shooting. It is pretty hilly but overall fairly easy hiking. In addition to the creek itself there are forest flora to shoot as well as insects for macro shooting.

We will set this up as a car pool event so that when we get to the top of the route there is a car available to pool us back up to the bottom. Thus attendance is a bit limited.

Yup, looks a lot like the previous event. Colours are good in there right now, on the early side of peak still.

Pictures I have taken there in the fall:

Hopefully the colours will be close to the above images, but we may find them between that state and the following:

Sorry for the short notice.

EDIT: FYI, I will not take up one of the registration spots but rest assured I am attending.

Both my wife and I would love to go. I'm hoping the "hip waders" was a joke though, my only rain gear is a pair of old swim trunks.

Neither can I on the Sunday :(.

I'm thinking that Dave and I have the same plans that evening.

Actually not a joke but certainly not necessary. There's two reasons it's not a joke. The first is a member of TPMG came to a previous waterfall event with a pair and he did use them. He still managed to fall in the water and partially fill them too. The second is if you take ten people to see a waterfall and only one has hip waders that guy can get to vantage points the other nine can't. But let me repeat, they are not at all necessary. Flow is still pretty low at Grindstone right now you could make your way across with a pair of Goretex hiking boots. And you don't need to cross the creek if you don't want to.

I guess I should add that this can be a mildly stressful hike. We go fairly slow but there are hills and camera gear is heavy.

I hope the weather forecast improves - while I want a nice overcast day I don't want a down pour, especially since I wanted to use the Fuji and its not weather sealed like the Nikon.

Great, then we will be there!

BTW we will be ok with the camera gear. My wife is all of 42 kilos and is at a shoot tonight with the following gear: Canon 1D (mkiii), Canon 5D (mkii), Canon 100-400, Canon 24-105, Canon 85L, and a tripod. It IS a lot for her to carry though. But when she wants to capture an image not much is going to get in her way lol.

Don't forget to hit the register button. Although I don't think we'll fill up it's best to confirm your spot just in case.

Is anyone coming from Toronto? Early Sunday's are a bit difficult due to no subways before 9:00.

Im the bozo who brought hip waders I bought just for Webster's Falls. Worth every penny and I got some pretty good shots from a different point of view. I wish I could attend Sunday, but Im down with a cold and breathing is tough enough. I remember the last time I started the walk, it nearly killed me. By the way even though I slipped and fell at Webster's both camera and myself remained perfectly dry. Anyone going to Henry's show today? If so, I hope to see you there.

I keep looking for the words to go with it, but can't seem to find them.

Ended up heading down this morning since I won't be making the event :(. I've been shooting all week with just the one camera and tripod:

Yeah, The Weather Network is currently calling for showers all day tomorrow but with a low POP and less than 1mm of rain. Particularly low chance and rain amounts in the late morning and early afternoon. Since I live ten minutes from the meeting location I'm going to leave calling the event off to the peeps coming in from far. Even if it's raining I will head over there and if some intrepid soul(s) have come out we can hit the local default (Tim's) and try and wait it out a bit.

Finally finished scanning and processing various fall colour shoots I did that week:

Wish I had brought more film that day. It was still a thoroughly enjoyable 80 minutes.

Glad you enjoyed it Ben. If there is snow there will be a Winter one. Abbreviated though, we won't do the whole trail.
