Hello all, it's time for a social!!!

What: it's a shoot and social!
Where: downtown Toronto (meet up at St. Lawrence Market front entrance on Front Street)
When: Saturday August 25, 2012 - shoot starts at 3pm and social at 8pm
Bring: Camera, comfortable walking shoes, appetite
Cost: just the cost to get yourself downtown and to buy food
Additional Info: bring along friends, the more the merrier!!

So I think it's time for another street shoot, especially with this wonderful summer weather! Plus why not add a social into the mix.

The shoot - downtown Toronto for some street photography, starting at St. Lawrence Market (meeting in front of building on Front Street) and finishing up at Kensington Market

The social - some place nearby Kensington Market - TBA - I am open to suggestions. The idea is to hit the restaurant after the light has set. Since sunset is just after 8pm that's most likely when we'll get the social started.

More details to follow.

J.

I started looking to see what's around the kensington market area, has anyone tried the Sin & Redemption restaurant, lounge and pub? It looks interesting and food prices decent. http://www.sinandredemption.com/index.php

Sounds like there will be leather and whips. Will there be leather and whips? I'm ok with leather and whips I just need to know beforehand to prepare myself. My safety word is "banana."

Hmmmm.... Creator of AWESOME WEB COMIC CYANIDE AND HAPPINESS!!!!!!!! has set up his social of a Banana Bar Crawl on the night of our social. How dare he? Nonetheless, I'd really like to get out and shoot some nanners. They're also gonna be at Fan Expo.

Toronto Star Article

Without hijacking the social completely is anyone interested in chasing bananas in the night with me?

Well why can't we do it all? Realistically most pub crawls don't really get interesting until later in the night. So I'm sure we can have a nice social and those interested can stay downtown and chase bananas :)

Can you update the planned start time, or ballpark it? 5pm... or maybe 2pm?

Hungarian Thai is on my list of places to visit... http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/10/132401/r ... ai-Toronto but I think it's a little small for a tpmg social.

Actually I was thinking to start around 3pm ish. Last time we shot in st Lawrence market we spent a good hour there and couLd have stayed longer. Those that want to start later and join up with us along the way I can provide my cell number. I will update shortly with more concrete details.

I'm always up to try something different and I do love Thai food. But if it's a bit small we should probably stick with my selection unless another option is presented.

Also the buskerfest is taking place around the st. Lawrence market area that weekend. So I figured people will definitely want to stay and spend some time in that area before we head toward kensington.

As details firm up people need to confirm their status! These events do take time and effort. Plans are made around the amount of people registered. From reservations to how long we stand around and wait. So, please be courteous by confirming and try to stick to this low obligation commitment as if people were making an effort to do something nice for you... cause they are.

Also, buskers are dirty hippies with bad attitudes. Drunk bananas > buskers.

The shooting part will run until around 8pm where we move on to the pub/restaurant for food and the official social part of the night. So please still come for the social, even if you miss the shooting part. Although it sounds like we may try and shoot some bananas later that night (and those inclined we could also do some night shooting downtown once the social wraps up).

Maybe if there was time on this event instead of "thinking to start around 3pm ish" Social "around sunset", people could/would confirm.

Sorry Jordan, this wasn't a dig at you although rereading it, it does appear to be. That certainly wasn't my intent. I was calling IONS out on his blanket "by confirming and try to stick to this low obligation commitment as if people were making an effort to do something nice for you... cause they are" statement which implies we, the con-committers are knowlingly dis'ing the organizers. We are not. All I was saying is, if the start time for shooting, the start time for the social (not to mention the myriad of other shooting ops talked about in this thread...) was finalized, those of us on the fringes could "realistically" say if we could attend or not.
Apologies to Jordan, I know you were still trying to finalize the details. Absolutely NO apologies to IONS.

I've been to this pub. The waiter hit me in the back of the head three times with the serving tray so I call the banquette! He didn't even notice. It really hurt!

Sin And Redemption restaurant has been booked for 8pm - under the name Jordan - although looks like everyone will be heading there together from the shoot :)
