What: Flowers Friday at the Royal Botanical Gardens
Where: Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Rd. West. Burlington at the front entrance.
When: 10AM Friday July 13th
Bring: Camera stuff, mostly related to macro so macro lens, close up filters, tripod
Cost: It would appear that it is $12 for adults and $10 for students, but that may be an online only price. Tickets may be more at the door. Plus money for sustenance and potables.
Additional Info: This is the tail end of the Rose Blossom festival so hopefully there's still a few of them around. Look here for a list of what is in bloom. The forecast is currently "way too freaking hot" (that's the technical term) so dress appropriately and cover yourself in greasy icky sun protector. Bring a hat.

Depending on time and interest there may be a waterfall bonus at the end of the day!

Some shots I got at the previous TPMG trip to the RBG:

I'm still in Edmonton that day - otherwise I would join you guys and see how well the x-pro1 does with the macro setting turned on.

You can mail the camera to me by express, I am more than happy to test out your new toy. (And of course try to stay out of water) You can keep the photo after.

I have actually booked Friday off to go to Port Dover, but might be able to join you for the potential waterfall bonus at the end of the day. About what time do you think you would be finishing at the RBG?

No idea, that's what makes it a maybe. It will be a last minute decision but I can send you a text keeping you informed. Enjoy Port Dover!

There's going to be a huge biker rally there. Is that what you're going for?

If you can get to Union station a train can take you to Aldershot station from where there are buses that go to the RBG. Definitely a bit of a trek that will cost about $20. I would guess that a ride back would not be difficult to get if you ask Simon nicely but I really shouldn't offer his vehicle. Sorry I can't offer a better option.

There will be another RBG event. One with more notice and a more convenient time for more people.

I had a great time today, fun and amusing company made even the rain breaks interesting. Plus I may have a shot or two and I was finally able to give the Lees a test even if it was at a familiar spot. Publicly noting - Bynx graciously covered me at least ten bucks because debit/credit was down. Thank you Bynx, I owe you a couple rounds next time.

Really nice trip yesterday even with the rain towards the end. Pluckers was a good choice for lunch.

Wow, Grindstone Creek is really dry. Not surprising given the long drought this summer, but still wow.

Indeed, it's the dryest I've ever seen it. A lot more flow than Borer's that's for sure! :D

Instead of fighting the high contrasty sun I embraced what I had and tried something new.

Grindstone is an interesting place. Just a couple feet one way or the other and the composition changes competely in sometimes very subtle ways. I like your composition without the observation deck and the fact that the pool at the bottom looks like a pool and not just a runoff spot. Nice one Chris. Also managed to get better butterfly and bug pics yesterday than at the butterfly conservatory.

Thank you for the pic compliments. :) I have a hard time getting good shots at the butterfly conservatory because there are just too many people in that cramped space. The last time I went there I was the first one from the group out of there as I was getting anxious from the crowd. I wandered around the gardens outside and got better butterfly pictures than I did inside. Now if there were less than half as many people there it'd be great.
