We should make a decision soon..... I don't have the same problem, but my weekends are pretty booked with things going on ...

Basically at the moment - its between either the August 11/12 weekend or the 18/19.

ok -- for those who want to come, there is now a poll! Let the voting decide! We will count the tally on Friday and that will be that!

I am only available to offer rides for August 10th - 12th for those who are looking for me to drive them up. There are 2 people currently who asked for a ride already otherwise you will need to find another ride.

It probably makes more sense for me to bring you Paul.... now, as for the campsite, I am going to call and see about availability --- I am actually hoping to get us one of the campsites at Clear Lake ... as its a nicer site than the Minna Lake sites.

Just called the Forest -- only one site available that weekend -- Minna Lake #3. I am going to take a look on the weekend, and most likely put a deposit down. oh - FYI.... I am almost 100% sure we are booking this for the August 10th to 12th weekend, based on the polling. I am actually going to move this to the official events section on Friday.

I think I am going to have to stay out of this event, much as I want to go, since the weekend working situation prevents me from making the necessary commitment.

I haven't been to the forest yet.... I am going Friday, so when I am there... I will take a look at Mina Lake #3 and check to make sure its still available. If for some reason its not.... Then we havento accomodate everyone coming on my site.... Which means that the 24' tent will not work. Don't have the space for a tent that large... Right Maureen!

Registration is now enabled. I am going to limit this to no more than 8 people. I am going to look at the campsite tomorrow..... And make an executive decision. We may be all camping on my site if the site is not suitable. I will advise tomorrow evening.

I made an executive decision today.... After seeing the site at Minna lake. I am going to accomodate everyone on my campsite. It wasn't very large, and frankly.... I wouldn't want to camp there, because its kinda icky. I can easily accomodate 2-3 tents of decent size.... Big tents in excess of 10' will not fit, due to other items on my site.

So we will aim to leave in the afternoon on Friday. We will be shooting sunrise to sunset... and explore the forest and beyond. We'll factor in some down time to relax in between. And I have lots of firewood for campfire's at my site.

If you are driving up...we will need to coordinate a meeting time. The main gate is open until at least 8 or 9pm on Friday's.... So if needed, latecomers could get a gatekey and come to us.

Ya, that might be an issue ... thanks for pointing that out Daryl. Looks like the attendance is pretty much set for this .... we do have some more room for another tent if anyone wants to tag along - and you could potentially ride up with myself and Bynx (Paul).

Myself and Kieran will be leaving around 5:30pm from Scarborough and picking up Jeniffer on the way from her cottage. We will be later than the 9:00pm for the gatehouse. Arrangements will need to be made to get in the gate. Anyone needing a ride can let me know.

If there is room for Simon then you can park your car across the street from my place in the St. Francis parking lot. Lots of room there and never any problems. The parking lot belongs to the school and has no connection with the Centre except they have to use it for their events. So no problem parking there.

Thanks Daryl. While the other event came up first, I couldnt get a ride. This event with David works out better for me. Ive unregistered the other event.

Simon .. I don't think that would be a problem, I'd just have to register your car with our security.

No problem ... I suspect I might not be leaving until late afternoon either.. so we'll arrange a time to come and meet you after setting up tents and whatnot.

I am interested in this camping event but Aug.11 weekend is not good for me, will this event is host again this year?

I would also like to try again if it happens next year. Hopefully work won't be as busy next summer.

You are assuming a lot Janet. Check your Mayan Calendar. The world is going to end in December 2012, so you better get the camping in while there is still time.

Well, assuming the world is still in existence, I would like to try again next year. Apparently, the weekend work is now done but something else has come up for the Friday evening, so I still can't make this.

I've been fence sitting this one anticipating working at Montreal for August and I was right. This would have been geat day hikes. Have fun you guys!

Hi Maureen,

Can I get a ride with you? I don't have a lot of equipment, but I have a large cooler, air mattress, & sleeping bag. Any equipment advice for those who don't camp often? I think the last time I did this I was in grad school.

Yes I can give you a ride. Yes there will be room for your equipment. You did not list a tent do you have one? So as for a pick up location we will have to work that out. I'll send you a PM.

I can bring an extra tent if needed..... I cleared out a spot for a couple of smaller tents to be setup.

Bring warm cloths! Its been cold here at night.

David, I'm just planning meals. Are we planning on having lunch at the Cook House one of the days or just doing lunch at the trailer from food we bring for meals. Just so myself and others can plan for this. Maureen

We can do lunch at the cook house on Sunday. Also fyi: there is currently a fire ban in effect, so we may not be able to have any campfire's.
