The alphabet challenge was one of the first events I went to as a TPMG member and I think it's time to bring it back for another round.

When:Saturday April 21st, 2pm
Where: Meeting place will be Woodbine Park, corner of Queen St E and Kingston Rd.
What to Bring: Camera, Good walking shoes, $ for noms afterwards at either the Lion on the Beach or Murphy's Law

How it works: Once everyone arrives you'll be given a letter of the alphabet. Your goal is to photograph only things that start with that letter.

We'll start out on Queen St E and walk east until Silverbirch. Then we'll head down to the boardwalk and walk west towards Woodbine. Those taking the TTC can hoof it to Woodbine station and take the 92 South, OR the 501/506 streetcars run past Woodbine park. Those driving...good luck with that  There is paid parking at Ashbridges Bay off Lake Shore Blvd. But if it's a nice sunny day - it'll be busy and harder to find parking.

I'm in Boston the previous weekend, and as it stands I may have other obligations that need to be pushed to this weekend.
I'll be a maybe until I can confirm/deny attendance.

I don't think I've done one of these challenges yet...

Ok the WWF pissed me off - they are charging an adm fee on top of raising money!! So I am bowing out and instead enjoy some photography that day. WWF you aren't getting my money that way, I will support a co-worker who is still climbing.

Edit note - really the word p i s s e d is sensored? Adm I think you need t dial that down just a bit!

A lot of charity event's do this. Heart and Stroke does the same. Admission fees only cover the administration cost of having you in the event and then they expect you to help raise money too.

Yes I know. CIBC Run for the Cure requires an adm fee - $50! I run this every year, but if you raise enough money - usually $150 - the adm fee is waived. If the WWF had did that I would have continued my participation.

To play devils advocate - there is a lot that goes into those events, not all of it free or covered by volunteers. Is an extra $25 to a cause you believe in really all that bad?

I would respond back with my counter-arguments but I don't want to hijack your event thread anymore. Even if it's keeping it at the top of the list ;)

However, I will say that your point is well taken.

J.

Waiving the admin fee if someone raises a certain amount would be a nice token from these MASSIVE HUGELY PROFITABLE CORPORATIONS that can far more easily soak up admin costs than individual competitors trying to do a good thing.

On an ON TOPIC note ;) Glad to see this event filling up. However, mother nature might rain on our parade. Will keep an eye on the weather forecast for now.

Two more days! And today's my last exam!

Weather.com says only 20% chance of rain, just a bit chilly. =]

My thanks as well...

It seems to now be the forum to complain about the alphabet, so P sucks! (but will happily do this event again some time).

Doesn't seem you had any trouble with the letter "P"
