EVENT: Town Hall Meeting

DATE: - Tue. Mar. 20, 2012

WHERE: St. Anne's Parish Hall at 651 Dufferin St. Entrance under the Workman Arts sign (just north on the east side of Dufferin & Dundas)
TIME: 7:00PM - 10:00pm

Hear Yea Hear Yea! The TOWN HALL MEETING has been rescheduled

All right there are 2 possible dates to choose from. It seems that Tuesdays worked best for everyone and it also gives people some time to plan for this. The Friday date is only a few days away and may be busy with it being just before St. Patrick's Day. So I am leaning towards the Tuesday date, but can do either date.

Please select the date that works for you the best.

Lets all work together to make TPMG a great place for all!

Deadline for a decision will be Wednesday Evening.

Hope to see everyone there.

I had to cancel my registration, my plans for tomorrow have changed.
I'm was really hoping to make it.
I hope the ideas and discussion will be positive, and will aide in making tpmg an even better group.

I think it went well overall. The key things for me that came out of that meeting were:

There needs to be a clearly defined set of rules when it comes to "commercial" posts or events. Lets all be on the same page about what is allowed and what's not. Nothing personal - all parties might have the best interests of the forum in mind but might not be aware of the rules of the group.

We all want this to be a better place and a positive social group. Whether you're a mod or organizer or admin or whatever - I think TPMG is in good hands.

Transparency is a HUGE thing moving forward. Lets be an open an honest group. Once you lay everything on the table there's much less to fight about.

This group has so much potential and so many people that honestly care about it's well being that we just need to be on the same page and understand where everyone is coming from. It was nice to see people sit down in person and talk it out. Ask those burning questions and get an honest answer.

It was great - I think we should have more of these kinds of meetings in the future, because I truly believe that people act and talk differently when not behind the computer keyboard - and it keeps it real. It was a very positive meeting - which is how I hoped it would be.

We definately need to have further discussions regarding commercial posts - and what is and isn't acceptable on the site. And there are a few other exciting things that will be announced soon!

While I wasn't able to attend, I'd like to take the time to thank everyone who did. It's great that there are so many in this community who are passionate enough to want to continue improving the community. Just as important to note, is the fact that the folks who have steered the ship for so long are just as passionate and are willing/wanting to listen to the opinions of others. With that being the case, we can't lose!

The meeting went well. There was some very good discussion and no blood spilled. It was very constructive. There is still some work to continue. I think that the commercial issue needs further review to develop clear parameters around the term so we avoid any misunderstandings over what is commercial such as around posts for retail businesses vs. personal sales of used equipment. And in particular to be able to understand how commercial is defined with regard to events that have costs associated with them.

There were some very good ideas floated out that it would be nice to see explored further or even enacted quickly as a pilot.

It was good to see a number of people come out, it was unfortunate that more could not attend or chose not to attend.

Thanks to all who attended, I hope good results will be seen soon. The bickering and infighting hopefully will end and we can all move forward. I have not been able to attend many events over the past year and sadly I wasn't able to attend this town hall so I am grateful others were available and will be committed to making this forum and meetup group work as it has in the past. Thanks to everyone who came out. I think we are all heading in the right direction. The meeting was positive and we managed to work through some issues and now have an clearer idea of where we can still make some positive improvements.

Thanks everyone for your input and commitment to TPMG. It is good to see we can all work together to make TPMG a fun, happy, and social place that it is.

Not sure if there will be agreement, however, I felt there were two areas discussed at the meeting that would benefit from further discussion through follow up meetings. One was events in general as that was the discussion Tuesday that almost preempted the agenda. The other is coming to a consensus on the exact limits of commercial and what it means on TPMG. Clearly from some of the posts since the meeting there is still some confusion, justified or not, and more importantly I don't believe we came to a conclusion on what is acceptable and not acceptable except at the broadest level that posting or events intended to provide profitable benefit to the poster or organizer are not acceptable. It is the gray edges that I want clarified a little.

It would also be nice if we could do this in a short time frame so we can settle into a long, hot summer of exciting, new events and hopefully a fresh start for TPMG.
