This is a feeler to see if there is sufficient interest to resurrect the pt/pl print workshop sometime in late February or early March.

If you are interested please comment below. Limited to 4 participants - the workshop usually takes 4 hours and involves a materials fee of $100.

Ken, I would be interested in doing this again with a friend of mine. So that would be 2 participants.

Only need one more to make this happen. Anyone else out there interested? We can aim for late February or early/mid March - we'll find a date that works for everyone once the last participant steps forward.

Stay tuned!

Sorry, going to have to back out of this one. My friend and I have just managed to figure out the first set of curves to create a digital neg. So I think we're good to now continue on our own with the knowledge I've gained from doing the first iteration of this workshop (and the additional research we've done).

I'm interested, but timing sucks for me, as I am heading to White Horse from the 3rd to 11th of March.

Workshop location will be in the Don Mills and Sheppard area.

Suggested Dates:

March 17
March 18
March 24 or
March 25

Please put your name beside your two dates - your first preference in ALL CAPS.

Thanks!

March 25 is the front runner at the moment.

I'd appreciate it if the others could chime in and choose a date.

Cheers,
Ken

March 25th it is then!

Richard
Dimitris
Vince
Sean

Each of you needs to send me an email with an attached digital image you wish to make a pt/pl print. I will reply with payment instructions for the workshop and once Roger receives the payment (paypal or email fund transfer to his account) he will prepare/convert your file to a digital negative on the day of the workshop. The $100 covers the preparing and printing of the digital negative and all the supplies required to make one pt/pl print on fine art paper (image size will be up to 6x9 inches on a ~12x15 sheet of paper) - Roger would like to have the entire payment made up front and not less than 2 weeks before the workshop. Please make sure you can attend the workshop on March 25 as it is a pain to have to reschedule it for one person.

The workshop will be held at my home (I have a darkroom in my basement) and I'll send you the coordinates. I expect the workshop to commence at around noon on the 25th. We will probably order pizza for those who want to have a bite while Roger explains the process and we wait for the paper to dry.

Please email me your file (RAW or TIFF - no need to send a huge file - 5-10MB is more than sufficient for this size of print) - email address is ken.ng AT gmailDOTcom

Also, what makes for a good source file? High contrast? Low contrast?

I used an image with a fairly good degree of tone variability, more towards the high contrast side. Pt/Pl printing really brings out the range very well.

Three of the five people who indicated they wish to participate in this workshop have yet to respond by sending a file.

If you are one of them, please respond to my PM within the next couple of days. If you are no longer able to attend, please extend me the courtesy of advising me.

Thank you.

Files from all 4 participants received/forwarded to Roger.

I believe 3/4 have also arranged payment.

I will email everyone by the 23rd with the address for the workshop.

Cheers,
Ken
