While I'm not overly thrilled with any of these, I am thrilled I was able, with the help of "lxdesign" (sp ?) to get the #@&*^% things onto the thread here. I am just as new to %$#*&@ Flickr as I am here.

Most of my shots came out soft, and a bit vignetted:

Do I need more practice? Or should I stop buying $25 plastic lenses for my camera?

A little bit of both.
Cheap lenses only get you so far. Higher quality glass will indeed help the photos out.
The highlights of the image look overexposed generally which would add to the "soft" feel.

If you can display a part of the image at the pixel level then we may be able to determine why it is blurred. Also the exif details would help?

Sadly, the Holga is not a CPU lens.

As it's a holga all I can say it's very artful
It may not have an exif but it still has ISO, fstop and shutter speed and maybe even higher resolution scan.

I did say that most were soft and fuzzy -- I guess I had fun with the Holga.

The rest were much sharper... and the lens cost ten times as much:

Still no EXIF. I was using manual lenses on a body that doesn't actually take manual lenses -- in this case the 24mm AIS. I was in the mood to try something different.
The Holga is roughly f/22, and I was shooting at ISO 200. Shutter speeds were mostly around the 15-30s range (which is the longest self-timed on the D80, hence the ISO200).
The 24mm I had set to f/11 and shutter around the 10s range.

The whole set: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxfkkt2
