ROAD TRIPPIN' (editorial)

Inspired by the beautiful weather this weekend, I'd thought I canvass if anyone wanted to try a sunny editorial shoot before it got too cold.

Also, i see Rhommel was graciously donating so much of his time to put on a bunch of new ad hocs, i felt guilty for being lazy ha ha , so i'll volunteer to organize an additional ad hoc too.

What: Fun Road Trip Editorial
When: Tentative Oct 22 or 23
Time: 11AM
Where: TBD - outside in the sun!!
Bring: Camera, imagination!
Cost - $40ish (approx) TBD

Goals (3):

(1) working with harsh lighting (balancing strong sun with strobes, using crisp shadows for dramatic looks);

(2) working on lighting car interiors without losing the look of the warm sun light;

(3) working on and discussing a plan to get a set of 4-5 images that are diverse enough but compliment each other for an editorial set, like you would print in a magazine spread.

I think i have an experienced model already lined up for this and hopefully the sun will come out strong on the day.

I was able to find some images online as to examples of the concept. These pics are NOT MINE and i forgot where i got them so sadly i can't credit the photog, but only have them up temporarily for examples. But they are great so we'll use them as inspiration shots for the theme.

So sign up if you're interested, otherwise I'm just gonna shoot this idea anyway myself ha ha.

please give preference to those who haven't been able to sign up for the other ad-hocs working with models so that not the same people are signing up for a bunch of workshops.

Also, if anyone has an old car like in the example photo, pls let me know! My Euro Coupe probably wont work for this!

me too. I'm hoping this can be shot and we can get back downtown to catch up with the Zombie Walk afterwards. Start time here may be adjusted accordingly as further details are finalized.

If the 23rd is much better for everyone, we may move this, and we'd lose the model planned now, so until we get some more clarity, i can't confirm the exact model yet.

I'm at the office now but will try to post the link when i get home to who is on board now. It's - Shannon, 5'5" ish, blonde, long hair. very experienced and super friendly to work with.

as usual... I can be available even on the last minute if a spot suddenly becomes vacant..

ok, there's a (small) chance developing we may be able to use a classic Alfa Romero Spider convertible for the shoot. That will change the feel of the shoots a bit (less grungy, more classy), but it will be worth it if we can score such a classic legend!

And here's an estimated break down of costs for this particular shoot (not finalized yet):

Model - $100-$120

Make Up/Hair - $50-80

Use of Car - Being arranged by Chopper

Location - I will scout out a spot for this - free

Lights - I will bring my strobes and some modifiers - donated by Chopper
(bring your own flashes if you want to use them and triggers)

Wardrobe - I will arrange with model, possible shared costs if we need something specific - I am pretty picky about wardrobe that works with the theme - maybe $10-15 bux each (but prob unlikely)

Drinks - I'll try to bring some bottled water, but bring whatever you have obviuosly

Total Estimated costs - $150-$215. Divide by 4 = $37.50 - $53.75 each.

Looks like someone had to back out, so waiting list people, please confirm if you can come, otherwise, we move down the list!

um Kamyau, there were three people on the waiting list when you registered in the spot vacated. Those three need to be given a fair chance of confirming before going down the list. So i think to be fair, you are #4 on the waiting list, before Pam.

Long term forecast says sunny on Saturday, yeah!

Model and car are on board. MUA/Hair - waiting for confirmation.
Alexander says he'll get back to me asap on whether he's in, otherwise moving down the wait list.

Sent you a couple PMs with my info but they seem to be still sitting in my outbox.

OK, Saturday weather looks good, but cold! ha

The owner of the Alfa Romero has also volunteered to act as a male model if we need one. He does look like a model and is an actual firefighter (featured in a new Calendar), too.

Maybe we can start the set with a dramatic "break-up" scene, with both of them in the shots and the female model storming off in her car, setting the story and mood of the shoot.

Sounds good to me.

OK, emails sent to all confirmed. Meeting tomorrow morning at the Studio and well coordinate wardrobe and then go to location nearby for shooting!

Hot car, female and male models are all set!
