Details:

What: Harbourfront to Bathurst Street Bridge
When: Wednesday August 10th 2011
Time: 5:30pm
Where: Lets Meet at the foot of Bay & Queens Quay
Bring: Camera, tripod, etc.

We'll start out on our walking journey at the foot of Bay Street and Queen's Quay and we'll walk west - either along the street at first, and then follow the harbourfront edge weaving through the various piers. The goal is to reach the Bathurst street bridge around sunset - as the golden light reflecting off of the rails is nice, and if we get a train in the shot - even better.

Then probably head up the street to a pub - there are a couple of pubs at the King street intersection. Its a bit of a walk, so that is why I am starting at 5:30pm after work for most. Hope to see you there!

New date: Wednesday August 10th

recommend Ireland park at Bathurst street at the lake, for those that haven't been it's a very small gem in Toronto especially for photography - weird views in all directions.

I will be in Toronto but for something else on the 26th. If the date happens to change I am 99.999% sure I could make it.

FYI, when I last tried to go to Ireland park (in May) there was heavy construction and said it would reopen sometime this summer. (The website still says that it is closed)

I really do like that mini park though...

Hi All,

I can't do Thursday anymore -- I will have to reschedule this for sometime in August. So I will be in touch with a new date.

I was just jogging past there today and had a look. It is now a parking lot. Even the wall sculpture is behind a fence. I asked the forestry workers and they seemed sure that it would not open this year. They didn't seem too sure about next year, or when it would open. There seems to be some multi-year plans that keep changing - which includes what to do with the malting silos. Lots of potential there.

If I come this, I will have to leave early, as I have a band practice that evening. The practice will likely be at Fort York Armouries, but the location is still to be confirmed. My maybe will also depend on whether the traffic allows me to get to Queen's Quay by 5:30.

Hey guys, just a quick update.... Its looking like rain on Wednesday, and if that is the case, I am going to need to post-pone this event again. Possibly to Thursday this week.... but we'll have to see how things turn out on Wednesday, so I will keep you posted as the weather changes.

well, just read that the rain possibilities for Wednesday are scattered showers, and the overall rating is only 40% .... so its looking better than I thought.

Wed evening is now looking iffyer with 60% chance of rain, and even if it does not rain it will probably be still cloudy, so, so much for the sunset and the railway tracks at the Bathurst St Bridge. Thurs is still forcast for sunny and clear all day.

Good place to look prior to the event.

http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/in ... tml?id=WKR

Raining in Barrie now, but nothing here at this time to say it will not be clear in Toronto by 5:30.

Going to the customize tab you can switch the animated playing of the radar from 1 hour to 3 hours.

Here another radar a little futher west.

According to the latest weather I was hearing - we might have a thundershower this morning in north Toronto for an hour or so - but sounding like its going to be clear downtown for the day - who knows, but yes, its looking good. So I will still be there for 5:30pm

Assuming that the traffic is OK, I should be there, but will have to leave between 6:30 and 7:00 (depending on how fast or slow we walk).

Thanks guys for attending - and that meal at the Wheat Sheaf surprised me - it was really good, and very rewarding after that epic walk. I am going to hopefully have some images posted up in the next day or two - as I am planning to develop my film by tomorrow night.
