as much as I'd like to view the photos, your site made me close it in less than 5 seconds.
A music player at an obscene volume that I cannot immediately see how to turn off.

The two you posted here looked cool though.

Why don't you mute the speakers or lower the volume from your taskbar ?

I wasn't asking for it to be for everybody, but a pause/mute button would help heaps!

I was thinking, given your recent adventures, that you should use "I fought the Law" either the Bobby Fuller version or the Clash version! :D

That song is waaaay too quiet. I'm making dinner in the kitchen and I can barely hear it from the den. Go back to the beats. Put this one on:

Richard,

After viewing all 200+ photo & listen to your music. What shutter speed did you use? The race cars look like sitting on the track, instead of racing!!!

as much as I would like to do some motion shots when given the opportunity, I wouldnt strap myself to one of these cars. well, maybe I would. The shutter was between 1/640 and 1/2000, 1/640 for caution laps obviously. 7 fps was a huge help and MUST HAVE. I used the 200mm end of the 70-200 VR II + 1.7x TC.

I think what Simon meant is, if you're sitting on the same turn all race watching the same cars do so many laps, why not try to pan a few?

My, no wonder all the cars look parked. I didn't take anything over 1/400. I found 1/200 to be quite nice:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5980552490/" title="Vera by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6024/5980552490_fa2228f0bc.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="Vera"></a>

And surreal at 1/60:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5979997821/" title="Al Masaood, Kane by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6012/5979997821_f0e854f97c.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="Al Masaood, Kane"></a>

Racing photography is also about catching moments, like three-wheeling around the corner (1/400):

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5980542934/" title="Boake by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6021/5980542934_9eca3ca499.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="Boake"></a>

My camera is always set to continuous, but the second frame always turns out to be a mistake. I should just keep it to singles.

http://flic.kr/s/aHsjvswmLv (100% music free!)

BTW, paperwork proves that, actually, I am the Law.

Yes I still lurk but I felt compelled to comment on this one :)

I never use continuous shooting - only if there's an accident happening in front of me and I'll keep shooting until I need to run away from a Mini coming right at me :) Blazing through half a dozen shots and then going through the bunch to select the best photo creates more work after the fact. Plus to think of the shot you want and nail the timing right is much more challenging and rewarding IMO.

Thanks for the link, you've got some pretty sweet pictures on there.
Making me wish I had a car to get to some of these awesome events! :(

thanks for all the inputs. I didnt get too many good stop-motion shots in 09, so I really wanted those this year. Next year I will definitely try something different.

Tanner: did you have one of those blue jackets? are they a photo club or what? some of those guys had 500mm primes while others had 17-55 kit lenses.
