Details:

What: Official Goodbye & Good Luck PotatoEYE Street Shoot and Anti-Social
When: Wed. June 15, 2011
Time: 3:15PM - meet at the ROM, 6:30PM for the eat at The Madison Avenue Pub
Where: ROM & The Madison Avenue Pub
Bring: Camera stuff (optional) and money for food stuff.

If you didn't know, PotatoEYE(Dmitrijs) is off to BC for school at the end of this month. We're gonna go street shooting for a bit beforehand, maybe start around 2PM at Kensington and wander down to the core or vice versa, then go to a restaurant where he'll complain about the food no matter where we choose ;). It'll be great! We'll sort out the details by committee (cause that goes so well 'round here).

The restaurant is The Madison Avenue Pub, PotatoeEYE loves pubs! It's his favourite. It's wing night at the Madison and we'll be able to watch his favourite sport - Hockey!!

If the weather is nice, we can do a BBQ at my place if you guys are interested. There's an LCBO about 5min walk and an M&M's attached to my building that we can get meat at.

Berge, pm me your mobile.

Bart, that's a great idea. Too late to kinda pot luck BBQ? Given the circumstances it might be difficult. Order a couple pizzas maybe? Dmitrijs is weird, he doesn't eat burgers. Seriously.

You'll love BC, Vancouver. Another great place to night/street photography especially at the night market every week.

WTF - is he STILL here?!?!
I thought we left him in Hamilton after the Spring waterfalls excursion?!?! I told you we should have given him more money for westbound bus fare.

Oh crap. Oh to be under-employed and no family & dogs. Well, just for one day - June 15.

But alas, with my birthday dinner the night before, family & work commitments, Niagara wine tour the next day I probably ain't gonna make this...especailly cuz he's probably gonna pick the worst restaurant imaginable just so he can complain the most about the food.

PotatoEYE you are one of my favored photogs in the Themes section. Very versatile. I am happy you are escaping T.O.'s dismal aesthetics for BC. I think you won't regret it. Please continue to post in the Themes section.

40 hours+/week of instruction and a part time job on top of that (word of employment advice: bring your own squeegee) - you'll have precious little time for the pursuit of your passion (sleep).

All the best...It was a pleasure to have met you.

I'm going to try to come to this, but probably partway through the shooting part. I'll wait until I am sure before signing up.

shall we incorporate burtynsky and nowaczynski at the ROM into the walk? free 3:30 - 5:30 (assuming oil is included in the freebie; nowaczynski and chopin's piano are and i'll gladly check them out again)

OOOOOOk.

As much as doing this at Bart's would be great, dinner has become an issue. To do this at a private event means food being bought beforehand. Even if it's simple M&Ms BBQ stuffs I don't have the cash to do that(or inclination to get enough of a variety for everyone - especially PotatoEYE, that guy's picky. If we order pizza and get $4ish (or whatever) from everyone a pizza order that will cover all tastes and tummies will require a preorder. I'm thinking a restaurant is a better choice right now as it leaves dinner up to each who attend.

So, I'm open to suggestions on a way to solve either problem.

Incorporating a ROM trip, especially for some Burtynsky, would be great, except doesn't the ROM insist you check camera equipment of a certain size at the door? There's no F'n way I'm doing that.

Also of note, Vancouver will be choking that night. It could complicate where we eat or we could have the place to ourselves. Plus some of us may want to watch...

After that pitiful performance tonight I would have to agree; I presume some people would want to watch the game on Wednesday. Unless you're interested in listening to it on the radio or someone has some sort of magical tablet device with internet, it's not gonna happen at my place. But, if you guys have issues finding a reso for that many people, my place is still open.

As for Burtynsky's, I actually have a few at work (Law firm specializing in mining), one of them is a pretty decent triptych; If anyone is interested I can take you guys through, and you guys can take as many photos of photos as you want.

EDIT: Oh, I just realized it's his oil sands etc work at the ROM, all I got is Mining.

ROM is gut, last time I went there they didn't allow BAGS, which you had to check. Cameras were ok except specific exhibits

As for food: I don't give a flying duck what we eat, but I'll try my best to complain about it

Agree, I really don't want to check photo equip in my bag at the door if that is the case. However.....

Is it all bags or just bags over a certain size. At the AGO they have a size limit and there is a box by the cash that your bag must fit into if they think your bag looks to big. My mid sized Tamrac Velocity Bag, is ok at the AGO.
