This is becoming a logistic nightmare, I will plan another film event, perhaps putting out a feeler first about what we might do. Maybe incorperate some totorials on how to scan, that would be a number of different ways of doing it with out getting into each others face about my way is better and your way is crap.

I got somewhat confused at some point on the other thread, but have decided to take the other tack and no clicky the button until I see the date.

No disrepect is intended to walkaboutcamera, I'm sure organising is not easy from another town, but I'm still doing it this way.

Never been to High Park for the Cherry Blossoms but a little Googling says mid april to first week in May. So most of March I will be trying to find out what resourses are at my disposal to get a heads up on when to call it. One of those resourses are my own eyes, my wife and I are in downtown Toronto every Monday morning to just after noon hour.
As the time approachs we will go to the park to have a look at the buds ourselves. I could take some closeup photos of the bubs and maybe someone knowledgable here could advise.

I'm sure you will see a flurry of activity here when it comes close to Cherry Blossom time.

so we're positive it's the cherries? well, wake me up when the next one's coming up, sometime in 2012

seriously, what's wrong with this friday 2 p.m., union station and we walk wherever the hell we want?

this begins to look more complicated than space shuttle launch 8)

I take that as Vilk is now taking over the organization of the event. I will say no more, but just show up for the event.

OR say precisely what you mean by no problem.

Did some googling to find when the cherry blossoms were out the past five years. Also I didn't know the trees were a gift from Japan.

These are the dates of photos I found

May 1 2006
May 7 2007
May 4 2008
May 3 2009
April 18 2010

How ever some fool is forecasting a cold spring. As I said once before when I retired from Enviromment Canada they made me hand in my keys to the room with the dials.

Spring really came early last year .... who knows what its going to be like this year.... but my cousins have been tapping trees for the last number of weeks in their maple forest ... which is earlier than normal.

OK on the weekend when the blossoms are out, how early do you need to get to High Park with your car to get parking at the Grenadier Restaurant?

On cherry blossom weekends the lot by the restaurant is usually full by 8 am if the weather is nice. And by 11 am people start fighting for spots :)
By 11am it can be hard trying to leave the traffic is so bad.

My fave spot is to the south by Colborne Lodge -- easy in, easy out.

Failing that, there is a lot SW of the park on Lakeshore. It's maybe 10mins walk to get back to the park, but it's free and circling the park is just ridiculous.
