Details:

What: December 2010 Lunar Eclipse
When: December 20/21, 2010
Time: After Midnight
Where: Your Back Porch
Bring: Tripod, Telephoto Lens, Hot Chocolate

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2 ... ar_eclipse

Wikipedia explains it best. A co-worker mentioned it to me tonight. I figure midnight might be late for a lot of us, especially on a weeknight, so it might be counter-intuitive to have an event, unless someone thinks it can work. An "event in spirit" might be a better idea.

When I retired from Environment Canada, I had to turn in my keys to the room with the dials, so I will not be able to dial up a clear night for you all, sorry.

The weather has had a nasty habit of not cooperating the last few lunar and celestial events. ARGH!

It's a shame it's in the wee early hours of the morning.

I was kinda hoping that someone with a good view from their condo -- and no particular need to get up early to go to work -- might host an all-night eclipse party... ;)

I've already done one ad-hoc tpmg event this year in my literal back yard... don't think I'm going to try a repeat.

FYI, meteor shower expected to peak Dec 13-Dec 14. Keep you eyes on the heavens folks and hope for clear skies.

In typical TO fashion, they are calling for cloudy skies this week.

Third time's a charm?

Apparently I was looking up in the same direction as you two... :)

Canon 50D, 70-200 F2.8 (at F8 I believe), with 1.4x teleconverter.
Would love a 'scope with camera attachment!

It was a cold and quiet night... now, I should go to work (falls under the desk from exhaustion) ;)

@ 200mm on Nikkor 80-200mm zoom. One day, I will definitely invest some money in a telescope with the tracking base.
