What: Casa Loma
When: Saturday November 20th 2010
Time: 10AM
Where: Meet at the front door of Casa Loma, 1 Austin Terrace, Toronto
Bring: Tripod - I am calling to let them know we are coming, and last year we didn't have an issue with tripods.

It's that time of year -- The annual visit to Casa Loma, one of Toronto's most famous tourist locations. The castle was built between 1911 and 1914, and was the brain child of Sir Henry Pellatt. We will explore the castle inside and out, including the well known stables building which was built in 1905 before the castle (cart before the horse).

For those coming by TTC -- Dupont Subway station is the closest underground connection. Its a short walk up the hill from there. We will most likely go and find a place for food after.

Funny that, and afterall - how could you be at two events at the same time, even if they are in the same place!

I managed to be with 2 groups at the streetcar museum.

Good find, but the coupon has EXPIRED on April 30, 2011. So I'm pretty sure it won't work.

It's been wayyyyyyy too long since I was at a TPMG event - almost 2 years. Ahhhhhh.

Just recently joined the TPMG, and have registered for Casa Loma. Besides camera equipment, any need to know things I should be aware of?

I have contacted Casa Loma, and I am looking into getting a group rate for us, as well as clearing the use of tripods for our visit.

Hello All,

I am still working on group rate -- which would be $12.69 per person plus tax. That's a lot better than the normal admission.

They have asked us about possibly coming later in the day -- and I am not sure how people feel about that -- its because of the tripod use. I did propose that we come for our meeting time of 10am, and then proceed to the tunnel and stables first, that way we can be out of the way in the morning at the main castle, and then work our way back to the castle for the afternoon. I think they are anticipating a largish crowd that day.

I won't be able to make it in the afternoon, as I need to leave by 1:00pm in order to get to another commitment in the late afternoon/early evening. I am willing to do the stables/tunnels first or to shoot without a tripod if necessary.

I think heading to the stables first is a good idea.

I'll probably hear back from them tomorrow. I wrote her back Friday night, and haven't heard back yet.

just to update you all, I have booked a group rate for 30 people. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT - if you are not coming that you indicate so now. Do not leave us hanging and not show up. This does happen, and this is the exact reason why we typically don't do group rates.

Ugh. Stupid work getting in the way

Was so excited for this. Oh well... next time I guess.

I'm still in the maybe column, but should be able to confirm one way or the other tomorrow night/Thursday morning.
