What: Christmas Windows and Lights
When: Sun. Dec 05, 2010
Time: 4PM
Where: Meet at Tim Hortons, 769 Yonge Street, (northeast corner of Yonge & Bloor)

We'll meet at the Timmy's at Yonge & Bloor, and then do a little "window shopping" on Bloor Street before heading south toward the Eaton Centre and the Bay on Queen Street. After shooting, we'll warm up somewhere nearby with a drink and/or food. Dress warm, it's a bit of a walk!

I would love to do this but I have an exam on the 6th so I'll have to see how prepared I feel for it before I decide whether or not to go.

No idea. It depends on how cold it is, how quickly people walk, and where we go to eat. You are welcome to leave at any time though! :)

If I really had to guess, I would think that we'd do some shooting for about an hour and a half or two hours, and then head off to food. Probably finish up around 7-8pm?

Things are starting to fall into place, turns out we will be at a thing near Youge and Wellesley and finish at 3:30 PM and we don't have to come down in the wee hours of the morning for our usual jaunt down to Toronto. If we get out late I have your cell number so that we can catch up.

I forgot to mention, bring a tripod! I will update the first post accordingly. I guess you don't really HAVE to, but you'll probably get better shots that way. :)

Isn't 4pm a bit early? It may be pretty crowded along bloor during that time.

Well, we usually wait for people for about 15 minutes or so at the meeting point, and I was hoping to get started just before dusk. It'll be dark by the time we hit Yonge/Dundas area. And I don't know that Bloor will be that busy between Yonge and Bay on a Sunday. Guess we'll just have to find out!

Thanks for organizing. I will join this walk if you don't mind a newbie.

May I suggest checking out the lighting displays in the bloor-yorkville area:

Sorry Sue, I'm going to have to miss tonight... double booked.

That being said, apparently they have snow falling in the Eaton Centre 6 nights a week (apparently Sunday is the exception).

While I'm not sure how photogenic it would be, maybe we can schedule an ad-hoc event later this month to take this in, and shoot the shops for those like me that will miss out on today.

Sorry Sue, I have also bailed.... The weather out here is frightful.... So I have taken shelter in the Ajax Starbucks, and need to get a home project finished tonight.

I would be interested in doing an ad-hoc, if it turned out to be a night that I was available. With the number of people bailing due to the weather, it might be an even better idea now, even though there is so far no snow here in Mississauga.

I had to drive to Alliston tonight, and indeed, the snow made the drive horrible!

I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow morning's commute.

Well, no snow in Brampton on the way to TO, nor in TO while we were walking around, though it was cold! Glad that I dressed for the weather! Thanks to the three who braved the cold to check out the lights in Yorkville. I continued on to the Eaton Centre alone, and got some shots en route of the lit up Santa's sleigh, and of the Eaton Centre tree. The Bay's windows were not any different from last year (on Queen Street) and the ones on Yonge were not anything special, in my opinion.

I didn't get any messages about people not able to make it until I just checked now; I can't check TPMG boards or messages while I'm out and about. Sorry to have seen so many cancel.

Thank you for organizing, Sue & Sorry to leave so early. It was very cold although the temperature was just a little below 0 C. I don't know how I am going to survive during the rest of the winter.

A couple of shots from today...
