What: Four-Thirds / Micro Four-Thirds (Olympus, Panasonic) meet
When: Sunday, December 12, 2010
Time: 12PM
Where: Bull & Firkin Pub, 1835 Yonge St, Toronto (Yonge & Merton, near Davisville subway station)

If anyone has a venue they would like to suggest instead, that's handy to transit and more accessible, it would certainly be considered.

If I may ask, what do you do at these meets?

Share experiences with the gear. Get an opportunity to try a piece of equipment (lens, body, TC) that you might other wise not get to try, because they just aren't available in-store. That sort of thing.

Well, to be fair, he found it again. It rolled under the pool table.

We also have a 4/3rds hotdog eating contest. This is where the hotdog is bigger than the bun, being 4/3rds the size of the 3/3rds bun.

There was the time I singed my eyebrows at the Oly-B-Q. Luckily Rob was there to catch it with the world's fastest auto-focus of the E-3 & 12-60 SWD combo.

You guys are such cards. I'm interested in m43 (don't have any m43 gear at all), but not sure if I can make it... Be forewarned if I come I might ask to play with your toys

That's the whole idea. I don't think there's a single person, in the group, who used to hog the Dinky Cars in the sandbox as a kid ;)

A few of us have m43 stuff now anyway, plus the regular 4/3 lenses might be of interest to any of the m43 people, if only to see if they are a viable option.

A colleague of mine is trying to decide between the Panasonic micro 4/3s and the Olympus. If he hasn't purchased one before the 12th, he may join us.

Absolutely! We might even get a couple of stragglers from DPReview.

The location has been locked in now. From previous experience I knew that it was pointless to confirm earlier than about 2 weeks before the event.

I entered the below previously posted photo into the free-subway-newspaper, Metro Photo Challenge (everyday travel category) and was shocked to learn that it made the top ten in Canada out of 4,500 entries.
I don't expect to ever get this deep into such a large competition ever again, so I figured it would be okay for me to boast a little to my fellow 4/3rds users. Best I've been able to do before was 31st in a DP Review challenge of 200 entries. :D
See you guys on the 12th

Andrew

This wider angle version shows that it wasn't quite as dangerous as it looked.

Nice shot and use of crop :)

Best I've done on DPReview is a 10th, in a competition that had less than 200 entries. I don't enter contests. My stuff tends to have a pretty narrow focus.

At this point there's a pretty goof chance that there will be both a E-5 and a 150mm F2.0 4/3 lens at the meet.

I'm afraid I have to change my status...I've been fighting a bad cold which just won't give up. I've already had to give up a couple once a year events, and becoming more like Scrooge every day this cold persists.

As much as I'd like to join you, I better skip this one. As the heading says, "Why me?"

Bah, humbug...and see you next year!

Does anyone who is coming have the Olympus 4/3 14-54 2.8-? II that they could bring. I would like to try it on my E-PL1 with the Panasonic 4/3 adapter.

Attendance has become iffy, a snow storm is in the forecast, and it could get nasty on the 400. I will have a look at the radar at 10:30 tomorrow and make a decision. Wish they hadn't made me turn in my keys to the room with the weather dials when I retired from Environment Canada.
