Aren't we about due for an Olympus meet-up? Given that things have expanded in the Four-Thirds world, I thought it best to include the whole sheebang.

So let's talk. When and where? The Bull and Firkin at Davisville is always a good fall-back, but maybe others have a different preference? Once we have a general consensus, I can start the actual sign-up thread.

*EDITED TO ADD DATE AND LOCATION*

What: Four-Thirds / Micro Four-Thirds (Olympus, Panasonic) meet
When: Sunday, December 13, 2009
Time: 12PM
Where: Bull & Firkin Pub, 1835 Yonge St, Toronto (Yonge & Merton, near Davisville subway station)

My schedule is pretty clear these days. I definitely cannot make it on Dec 9.

Any location close to a subway or downtownish is good with me. The Bull & Firkin is good, the only concern last time was those small round tables are not great for camera gear.

Thanks for setting this up Rob.

Don't know about December...probably in the new year would be a better bet.

We could potentially arrange for one on December, then another in Jan/Feb so that people can show off their Christmas loot.

I agree that the tables at B&F aren't the most conducive to laying out camera gear, but the location is the most convenient that I've found for people all around Toronto. Admittedly my goal most nights it to get the hell out of Dodge as quickly as possible, so my experience is limited ;)

How are people for a weekday? Weekend preferred?

This will be something like the 6th or 7th meet since itsaphoto and I started it. People who are interested in seeing what the gear is about are also welcome.

I wanted to make sure to give everyone enough time to plan, so I was thinking Dec. 10th onward. I'll likely be tied up on Dec. 11th, doubly-so if my editor makes the trip from New Brunswick for the motorcycle show.

... which might not be a bad place for a meet either.

I don't think I can commit in December. I just got engaged over the weekend and there's wedding stuff to be planned ;)

There's a possibility the wedding will happen in late Jan (we're totally eloping) and otherwise late April. If we do it in April, I can make a January meet (provided it's Wed/Thurs b/c of my work schedule).

In the meantime, keep me posted on dates/times and if I AM free then I WILL be there :D

Thanks Rob and Bruce for emailing me to keep me in the loop!!

S.

Congrats Sara!

You should get Rob to be the wedding photographer. If he can shoot motorcycles he should be able to snap you eloping out the window and down the ladder at night. And that 35-100 f/2 will really help with the low light shots!
:)

Yup, if she elopes on a sportbike I'm all set. Might be a little tough to get it down the ladder though. Trains also tend to get caught in chains.

Closest we have in the group is mawz, who owns a G1. I've been considering a E-P2, which unfortunately isn't available yet.

I use a combo of EP1 and G1.

I saw the G1 mawz has and can really see its advantages; however, I like the look of the pen cameras as seen in pictures.

It would be nice to see these cameras. Although, my wallet can do without the competition.

Yonge / Davisville ... a challenge to get to for during the week evenings. Let the majority rule and I'll make an effort to attend.

It's my neighbourhood so I can't complain! If I'm free I'll be there once a date is set.

Iain.

I think that Sara is the only one who consistently requested weekday meets, so a weekend looks promising. It also sounds like the Bull and Firkin is in an area that most people can manage, tough I agree that larger tables would be nice. If we have the meet at lunchtime, rather than in the evening, the place tends to be less busy. That would likely give us a couple of booths to lay stuff out.

So now it's down to preference for Saturday or Sunday, and setting an actual date.

We did a Sunday morning there once...actually, that was the first of these I attended.

Sat. December 5th is definitely an OUT for me.

The neighbourhood is also mine.

What does everyone thing of Sunday, December 13th starting at, or a little before noon? If I remember correctly, the place opens at 11:00am and there's plenty of good stuff on the menu.

My brother is supposed to be in town that weekend; but I think I can make it too - just might have to leave a bit early.

If any of you are contemplating jumping over to the m43 - the last 2 photos I've posted here are of the G1 with the lumix 7-14 and the EP-1 with the 7-14.
