What: Annual Fall Colours Drive
When: Sun. Oct. 10, 2010
Time: 11AM
Where: initial meetup at Tim Hortons in Orillia located at 355 Memorial Ave (just off of Hwy 12)
Bring: camera, comfortable walking shoes

So here is the plan so far:

Meet at Tim Hortons in Orillia and head toward Norland. From there we'll go toward Fenlon Falls, Bobcaygeon, Buckhorn, Lakefield and Peterborough. There are a few conservation areas nearby that sound interesting, and of course, if anyone has suggestions on what are "must-see" spots, let me know! The locks and canals could provide some pretty shots, and there are lots of lakes in the area for some reflection shots.

It's a rough plan at this point since we don't know what the colours will be like on that weekend, or if the weather will cooperate. There is a plan B for spots further south in the works if the colours have already come and gone at that more northern location....

Feel free to make car pooling plans through this thread.

I'd love to come but have no car - if I could hitch a ride with someone that would be fantastic!

I suggest Burlegh Falls, not far from Buckhorn and on the way to Lakefield.

Actually... I might not mind a ride either. With the falls event the day before I'll probably be sick of driving. But, since I'm not likely to get a ride from out this way I will probably have room in my car for passengers. If I attend.

I should probably warn people that this is an all-day trip, likely returning to the GTA after dinner. If any of you have Thanksgiving dinner plans for that night, you'll probably have to leave early. (And if anyone is offering or accepting rides, maybe mention any time constraints...)

BTW, anyone know of a good place to eat dinner in Peterborough or near there?

i can offer up a ride to some people that need it. i'll be coming from southwest etobicoke. pm me if you want a ride and are in the area.

oh yeah, i'm new here and this'll be the first of hopefully many events for me.

HI ALL! I've moved to Bancroft and thought I'd check in. The colours are at their peak here right now. The hills and side roads around here are just spectacular. If any of you get up this far, come and say hi--miss you.
I'm at 31947 HWY 28 EAST--about 8 minutes out of Bancroft. Phone # 613-332-2552.

Will talk to the wife. If we come, chances are we'll be renting a car (motorcycles and lots of photo gear don't get along) in which case we'd likely have a spot in our rental for 2 people.

We're downtown @ Spadina/King.

If nothing comes up I can probably join. I will try to confirm as soon as possible, hopefully my folks won't prepare anything this sunday. I got a ride and in markham area.

Absolutely!

I am not as familiar with Peterborough as I am with Lindsay -- but one problem you may encounter is that places may be closed for pre-reservation thanksgiving dinner! You might have to stick to somewhere like Montanna's or Kelsey's - I think Peterborough has at least one or more of the bigger chain restaurant's there.

Looks like we're out. Car rental prices are atrocious for Thanksgiving weekend so we're cutting our rental short to just the Saturday; the day we have to attend a wedding.

Hello, I just joined TPMG this week and looking foward to this weekends fall photography shoot. I will be going with my daughter krystel and have room for two passengers. If interested contact me to make arrangements as I live in Scarborough at Warden/Finch.......Derek.

Weather for Sunday is looking good, and from what I can tell on the Fall Colours report, the area we're planning to head toward is at about 60-80% colour change. As long as there isn't a huge windstorm between now and then, we should be good to go!

Hope people are able to arrange rides!

My wife (photowalker) and I are going to try very hard to make this our first official tpmg event.
