Details:

What: Aurora Chasing
When: August 03/04 Tuesday
Time: 9PM until the wee hours of the morning.
Where: Somewhere in the city for meet up then to Torrence Barrens or maybe just Wasaga? Depends what people prefer.
Bring: Photography equipment, bug spray and patience. Swimsuit?

Other pertinent information goes here.

Going to head up tonight to see if I can see some Northern Lights. I have room for 3 in my car; I would prefer to do just one pickup or a couple that are close by. West end is also much easier for me time wise and gas wise. If it stays hot and sticky like this I'm thinking a stop to fall into Wasaga Beach might be a good idea. Bring patience in case we have to wait out the clouds or see nothing but cloud-it could happen.

If you want picked up PM me.

Back to 3 spaces available.

Spectacular Northern Lights Show Signals Sun Is Waking Up

Although it's tempting to stay close to the city in case the clouds don't cooperate this could be a rare opportunity to grab some decent Aurora shots relatively locally. Current forecast for Barrie tonight is clear.

hoping you guys get some good star gazing in tonight! I won't be heading out that way. Not really sure where I'm going as of yet.

But hopefully, there'll be shots to be shared tomorrow :)

So is anyone serious about coming?

I'm a go if we get a few people tonight... I know I'll hate myself in the morning when I have to work, but hey, that's life.

Ions PM'd me an interest, but is anyone else serious?

I'd like to know cause if nobody is going to Hotwire's and I'm driving up to Torrence alone instead I wanted to leave roughly a half hour ago.

to those riding with me. i am preparing for potential stakeout to the wee hours (3am latest) so if you don't plan to stay that long, you'll have to find your own way home.

unfortunately... I had to depend on my dad dearest to drive me home. And he's not the youngest sprite out their these days, so I came home early. I got a few decent shots of the observatory while I was up there though. Should have asked people for cell numbers so I could sit with people.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/calyxx/4859432316/" title="star gazing by stephanie KW ho, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4097/4859432316_9822742668.jpg" width="500" height="335" alt="star gazing"></a>

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/calyxx/4858810383/" title="the observatory by stephanie KW ho, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4075/4858810383_84594580a6.jpg" width="500" height="312" alt="the observatory"></a>

It moved a wee bit between photos... so you can see the telescope-ish in the second.

Hope everyone else has better luck! Was told that Muskoka had a view of the northern lights... so I've got my fingers crossed someone got a wonderful shot.

Was a fun outing even with no Aurora. Stupid solar plasma! Kinda regretting not making a run for the Barrens just in case they were visible there.

Never seen anything more spectacular. There were sun explosions everywhere. Anyhow, I'm here to thank Chris for having us at his place and mr. luchini for the ride.
