Details:

What: TPMG Annual BBQ
When: Thursday August 26th 2010
Time: 6PM
Where: Highland Creek Park - right off of Old Kingston Road.
Bring: Yourself, camera is optional, any exotic meat that you desire (Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided by us!) The meat will not be gluten free - so if you have an alergy, please arrange for your own meat.

It's that time of year! The annual BBQ will be held in Highland Creek park -- right off of Old Kingston Road. If you are driving -- basically take Kingston Road east to Old Kingston road - make a quick left followed by a quick right, and down the hill to the bottom -- look right, and there we are! For those taking TTC -- take the bus out on Kingston Rd to Old Kingston Rd, and get off -- its a 5 minute walk down the hill.

Some limited carpooling will be available - Maureen has agreed to pickup from mid-town and drop off at Kennedy Station. And I can take people from downtown - Dundas & Dufferin - departing at 4:30ish, and drop off at Kennedy subway station.

Unfortunately there is no fire pit, but there is a standup BBQ thing -- and maybe we can light a small fire in that, in lieu of a fire pit. It does get dark earlier in late August, so bring along a lantern if you have one. Also -- please bring a lawn chair or camp chair if you have one - as seating is VERY limited.

I'll be driving in from Buffalo (finishing my trip) so I hope that the traffic cooperates and I get there at a good time. :)

Just an update, I have 1 passenger in my van so far. Some spots left, although I do need to make room for a couple of tables I am borrowing from work.

I will swing by after work, but probably can't stay long as I need to let my dog out.

Update:

I have one possible passenger and room for 4 or 5 passengers if need be, for a total of 6 or 7 people including myself in a mini van. I have two (2) meeting locations.

1) Kennedy Subway Station in the Kiss and Ride area (down the corridor near the ticket booth and upstairs for 5:15pm

2) Guildwood Go for 5:32pm This train departs Union Station at 5:05pm and arrives at Guildwood for 5:32pm. You will need to come through the tunnel and I will meet outside at the entrance in the parking lot.

I can return people back to either location on the return trip.

Please PM and post on the form if you would like a ride so I know how many people I have. There is room in the trunk/back area to put camp chairs, camera gear or any other item you may be bringing.

1) Maureen (myself)
2) Sarah
3) Tyler
4)
5)
6)
7) if necessary???

3 or 4 seats still remaining

I'll bring some tags with me for the BBQ -- they are $4.00 each for anyone interested in one.

David,
According to Google map, there are two High Creek(one lower) parks around Kingston road with old Kingston road somewhere is the middle. can you please narrow down the meet locations?

thanks,

Hi Ed,

I was very specific in the description above. highland creek is a long park, but we are meeting at the picnic area which is located right off of Old Kingston Rd. between Kingston Rd. and Military Trail. Does that help?

David

I would offer from Mississauga, except I'm driving back north home thereafter. If you can find someone to drive you home, or at least back to your car if you park it here...

Depending where in Mississauga you leave your car, I should be able to get you back to your car.

Hmmm, that might be doable. Where would I be leaving my car hotwire?

I've had to drop my plan to get out of work early that day, so I'll be showing up to this rather late (around 8:30~ish). How late do you think people will be staying?

We will probably still be there... although it will start to get dark around then. Maybe we should bring a little wood for the BBQ thing, and have a bit of a fire? Just a thought.

If you can meet me at my office in the Hurontario/Hwy 401 area, that would be great. Given the traffic hell that is the Gardiner expressway, it would be saner for all of us to drive across the 401 anyway.

For those who are "direction challenged" like me - I think I got the location right - correct me if I'm wrong David.
