I haven't had a chance to talk to Susan yet, but I was thinking of meeting at the Tim Horton's at 8:00am, and leaving there by 8:15 so that we can photograph the Mennonites on their way to church, on Three Bridges Road.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/janetliz/3143291425/" title="St. Jacobs013 by janetliz, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3120/3143291425_bf8903c30a_m.jpg" width="240" height="183" alt="St. Jacobs013"></a>

That would be finished around 10:00, when their church service starts, and then we could shoot around the area and perhaps meet the latecomers for lunch in St. Jacobs around 11:30-12:00. At that point, I have to take off, since I need to be in Guelph at 1:30.

I do want to get Susan's input, though, before I make this a definite plan.

Janet

Does anyone happen to know if there is any variation in the time of Mennonite church services at different times of the year? Are they earlier in August than in December (the only time I've been to shoot the Mennonites on their way to church)? I would hate to get there too late to shoot the Mennonites going to church.

I found a geotagged photo from the spot where I was planning to shoot the Mennonites going to church:

Hello All,

Sounds like an interesting one. Is there anyone going from Toronto/North York area? I noticed that most that are going come from Mississauga area? :)

Also, the 8:00am planned time is @ St. Jacob?

Thanks :)

Yes, the 8:00 am meeting time is 8:00am. I want to photograph the Mennonites going to church, which begins around 9:00am, and we need the time to get from the Tim Horton's to Three Bridges Road and to pick our spots.

The 3 people who are signed up for the early time are from Newmarket, Scarborough and Mississauga. I do have 2 others coming from Mississauga who won't be signing up (Susan's computer has been disconnected and Anne has forgetten her username/password).

At this point, I can't say whether I will come or not. As I haven't looked that far into my schedule. And I am trying to spend as much of my time up in Haliburton this year, and feel like I haven't done so yet, so we may be up north.

I might be able to get a car. :) But I'm not sure how early I can get up.
Any plans after lunch? Or would it be last minute random ideas?

I actually have to leave at lunchtime, but I would suggest discussing the afternoon plans while eating lunch.

Well, this event is a little more than a week away. I'll bump it now in hopes that some of you who haven't seen it, or weren't able to plan that far ahead have another chance of making it.

By the way, any suggestions on a restaurant for dinner after the event?

Wouldnt' that depend on where we end up? But I always have ideas for food.

Pizzeria Liberrato (Neapolitan pizza): http://pizzerialibretto.com/menu They definitely have a liquor license, so I'd imagine you can get beer.

Ichimoto, AYCE Japanese for around $22, good sushi & cooked food: http://www.yelp.ca/biz/ichimoto-richmond-hill

I really want to come. But I'm not 100% certain yet. There's no option for maybe yet, so I figured to say yes first.

Just wondering tho, I'm assuming these are regular people trying to go to church on a Sunday morning. Are they okay being photographed by other people? :) :)

I am offering rides for anyone needing a ride.

Looking at google maps - from my place in Scarborough to Tims in St Jacobs it says it is 1hr 45min. (so 2hrs+ with pick-up stops)

I will post times and locations of pick-up once I know who needs a ride and where they will be meeting.

Likely Pick-ups:
1)Warden and Danforth Ave (300 Blue Line Bus Route) -- gas station at corner -- 5:45am
2)york Mills Subway -- (320 Yonge Blue Line Bus) SHELL gas station on S/E corner -- 6:00am
3)401 and Weston Rd at Tim's 6:15am

Seats reserved:
1)Maureen
2)Yesh
3)Chris -- shotgun
4)John
5)
6)

Too bad I won't be able to make this trip, I have a family function that day.

If you are looking for a nice place to eat there is a very nice restaurant in St. Jacobs, 1396 King St. North. It's called, Stone Crock restaurant. They have a nice buffet or you can order from the menu. They also have great homemade pies.

The only thing is it can get quite busy at times.

Have a great time.

Terry.

As of Sunday morning, 2am, there are no names under the late column.

If you plan on attending late, please post in this thread (or call me if you already have my phone number). If I see nobody saying they're coming, we may not stop back at the Tim Hortons at 11:30am.

I will be checking the board, and this thread throughout the morning on my blackberry.

Thanks Maureen for the crazy taxi ride! Waking up mid-air with my head smashing against the roof from a speed bump was better than coffee :-) Thanks Chris/Janet for a great day. Random Road trip numero 4?
