Details:

What: Niagara Peninsula
When: Sat. Jul. 31
Time: 5:00am
Where: 50 Point Beach - north end of Kelson Ave. N., just west of 50 Point Conservation Area, Stoney Creek
Bring: Camera, Tripod, etc.

I thought it might be interesting to do a little tour of the portion of the Niagara Peninsula between Stoney Creek and Vineland, since I'll be going that way anyway to spend Sunday and Monday with my Father. I'd like to do a sunrise at 50 Point Beach. This is the spot I'm aiming to find:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ralfnowak/4518385192/

I'm hoping that we could get there without having to pay to go into the conservation area, but since I haven't been there before I'm not making any promises.

After that, I thought that we could drive around the area, stopping at Puddicombe Farms to pick up later arrivals, and the the Comfort Maple, Jordan, and anywhere else that takes our fance, and then finish up at the old ship in Jordan Harbour.

Dislike to wake up early but it's hard to resist such beautiful sunrise.

Well, I'm planning on leaving Port Credit (Mississauga) at 4:00am. I suspect that will get me there a little bit earlier than necessary.

Planning on leaving the East end at about 3:45ish.

Parking directions would be appreciated if anyone knows! (google maps looks like you can drive right to the end and there is a little parking lot, but not sure)

I'm picking up Alice at 4am in front of the chapters at Yorkdale. So if anyone else needs a ride there are a couple of spots in my car.

Kelson is east of 50 Point Conservation Area... Regardless, the north end of Kelson it is! :)

I have Alice's number if I'm late or can't find you guys.

Fun day! I had said offhand earlier in the day that I would like to do a tour of Ontario's wine region; little did I know I was about to get one! :D

I hope everyone got home safe. It was nice meeting some new faces.

Exhausted. Bed now.

^^^

That's a beauty of a shot! Am I allowed to say one thing though? :S

The one thing that really caught my attention at first... was the shadow at the bottom of the image... in the middle-left section.

I love the shot otherwise, though! Makes me want to go into that field and lie down in it.

The day started far too early when this thing came up:

Image

My haystack picture:

Image

Lesson learned there is to bend down so it doesn't look like your haystack is gonna tip over.

We then went to another farm where I saw a truck and a pear:

Image

Apparently Nikons are tremendously complicated. Here a team attempted to figure this one out. Sadly they were unsuccessful:

Image

Yeshwanth, from a quick comparison of the 17-40L to the Sigma 17-35 I would say that the Canon captures a little cooler than the Sigma; probably a little more accurate in colour rendition. I didn't do any real pixel peeping. Thanks for the opportunity to shoot with the 17-40L for a while.
