What: Presqu'ile Park Warblers and Whimbrels Weekend
When: Sat May 22 2010
Time: 6:30 AM
Where: Lighthouse parking lot inside Presqu'ile park
Bring: Camera, tripod, long lens, close up or macro

This is the weekend that the "Friends of Presqui'le" do their bird banding program.
Also they will have guide walks around the area and will point out and identify various birds.
Also in the surrounding woods there may be trilliums, trout lillies and other wild flowers.
They usually have a BBQ at the light house later on.
The program runs from 6:30 till 4:00PM.
There are also some beautiful walking trails here.

The park is approx 145km from Toronto. About 1h45min to 2h.

I am going on Sunday as the Art Wolfe seminar is on Saturday. I go most years and it is good. Except the year we had howling winds and horizontal rain!

If you happen to change this to Sunday at some point I am with you!

That's the long May 24 weekend, right? Hoping to be away that weekend, somewhere down in the States....

would have joined you -- but heading to Long Point instead.

I like Presqu'ile, but I already have plans to be in Parry Sound that weekend.

Sorry will also be camoing at Long Point for the weekend.

Sounds interesting but to get there for 6:30AM I would have to leave around 4:30AM, that's pretty early in the morning.

Not early at all if you can get someone else to drive and snooze the entire way

Presqu'ile Park sounds tranquil & neat, wish i can go.

I'm going to Niagara that weekend, which will probably be a mad place.

Is there anything interesting other than birds in the park? I don't have a long lens

rent one and use it and may be go to the zoo the next day ...to make the best use of it...lol I am just saying

While the big draw to presqu'ile right now is the migratory birds, there is a lighthouse, sand dune's, a marsh boardwalk, varying types of forests - Jacob's woods being an interesting one, although I bet the black flies are biting in there! It's definately a nature photography kind of place.

It has been a long time. You can always set the camera to "A" mode
Just make sure your batteries are charged.

Presquille is East of Toronto,
south of Brighton. If you reach Trenton
you went too far.
