Details:

What: Hamilton Sights
When: Sun. Jun 27, 2010
Time: 12PM
Where: Tim Hortons, 634 Parkdale Ave N, Hamilton ON
Bring: camera, comfortable walking shoes, tripod?

Let's get outta Dodge during the G20 talks! There are a couple of places in Hamilton that seem pretty interesting:

Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology is offering free admission on the 27th, as well as a free ride on coal burning steam powered miniature trains.

There's also the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, which costs $10 to enter, and they have lots of old planes to see and photograph. There are even one or two that you can climb into and sit down in!

In addition, there's the rusty old ship near Jordan Harbour that I've always wanted to photograph....

Additional ideas are most welcome, and please indicate what you'd be most interested in seeing, and if you need, or can offer, car pooling.

I don't think I'm up for any waterfalls, or at least none that require me to be too close to trees, grass, etc. My allergies have been wreaking havoc on my breathing the last few weeks, and I'm not willing to tempt fate that much more if I have to work the next day.....

Glad to know that no waterfalls for this one or else I'll be kicking my @$$ for suggesting it and I cannot make it! Just got my work schedule today, I have to work on this weekend too. I am being scheduled to work on every weekend since May until the July long weekend. You can see how much love my supervisor have for me   .

Have fun everyone!

So, since no one has said if they prefer one thing over another, I'm thinking that we can meet up at the Timmy's, go to the Steam and Technology Museum as long as the weather is good, and then see about going to the Warplane Museum or checking out something else if we'd rather stay outside....

Sue

Still not sure what I am doing  .. but the warplane museum also has outside exhibits to see.
Was just there last weekend for fathers day.
You can also go down by the docks (pier 8 I think ) the Haita is there now and there are usually some tugs or other smaller type things around. could be interesting as well.

Right now it's kinda sunny/hazy here in Burlington with the forecast of a 40% chance of showers/t-storms later this afternoon. Hopefully we'll be rain free through the day. :)

Glad to have organized! Thanks for joining me, guys! The train rides were a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see the pictures Pam took on a larger screen. I'm also glad that the rain waited until the very end of the day to start. :)

Yeah, it started raining as we arrived at the ship, lightly at first, and then got harder as we returned to the car. Poured all the way home. Oh well!

We got pretty wet but not soaked. A drunk guy in flip-flops nearly took himself out sliding all over the rocks. He landed at my feet, hit my tripod and the rocks with his head. He was looking really unsteady but seemed prepared to drive his girlfriend home! Wwhat a yutz.

I wasn't too happy w/ the shots, but it was neat to see.

Thanks for a fun day Sue!
