Details:

What: Bruce's Mill - Maple Syrup Festival
When: Sunday, March 21tst, 2010
Time: 9:45 AM
Where: 3291 Stouville Side Road
Parking Lot of Bruce's Mills Conservation Area
Take 404 North to Stouville Road, exit and follow east past Warden Avenue to the Parking lot on the south side.
Bring: Camera, Tripods / monopods optional, Appitite, BOOTS - will likely be mudddy

Cost: Admission $8.00 per adult,
Parking $0.00 FREE
Pancake Lunch: Order off the main menu

We will meet in the parking lot, before proceeding to the main entrance. Each person will pay the $8.00 admission

We are booked in as a group on a self guided tour, which saves us some money and we can move about the maple syrup festival as freely as possible. Guided Tours are for an hour and start on each hour. Since we are booked as self guided the tour guides will also know we are there as a photography group taking pictures and we will all have to work around each other.

Booked seating for lunch has been changed to first come first serves since we are not getting the special. See below for the menu. Seating may change to limited, but I will see how it goes. There are lots of picnic tables outside, so it may be easier to grab pancakes and possible go outside if inside is full. We can still plan to assemble for 12:30pm or play it by ear.
If you finish up with the Maple Syrup Festival Area before lunch there is also a Mill -- Bruce's Mill -- on the conservation grounds. We can only take exterior shots as unfortunately the Mill is not open to the public.

Removed the confirmation for pancakes, we'll order off the menu

Car Pooling can be arranged in the thread. Please state if you need a ride or can offer a ride to anyone.

I have seats available in the van. I can pick people up at the Kennedy Subway, or Scarborough Go Station (Midland Ave / Rees Ave [St. Clair Ave]).

Anyone needing my cell # please PM me.

See pancake update of prices and meal sizes below

UPDATED: No limit or confirmation of pancakes, as we did not get 20 and we will just order off the menu so everyone will be full of yummy syrup and of course pancakes.

If I can't confirm by Mar 12, can I still try to come and just skip the lunch part? I've worked a few weekends lately - more Sundays than Saturdays - and they don't confirm that until the Friday before (Mar 19).

that would be fine, they do have a menu of some stuff to order off. So you could likely do that.

1 pancake...... that's it. Just read the description above. By the way, the mill is very unique, as it has a fitz overshot wheel which operated the mill when it was running.

Bird shooters might want to bring along their big guns. There's a big male pileated woodpecker that makes his home at the sugar bush. He usually flies around and makes a racket early mornings. With no leafs on the trees, it should (hah!) be an easy shot.

The Syrup is delicious, was there today with the childcare, on a guided tour it was very informative.

Our tour is self guided, just follow the path all the way around. Of course the best part will be the pancakes. Don't forget about the Mill afterwards for some more photo oops.

We shall assemble in the parking lot for the 9:45am and them move up and wander around the trail. There is a wagon ride too, and a small petting zoo of a few animals.

Pancakes and Syrup here we come.

Syrup is for sale 500ml -- $14.95; 1 litre -- $24.95; they have smaller and larger sizes available but can't remember the prices for those. They are for sale in the Sugar Shack. Line-up get longer as the day goes on so may want to get it earlier, though you would have it all day to carry, unless a quick trip back to the car is in order.

The sap is running? I was wondering because the nights lately haven't been that cold.

Hi Lara,

The sap was slowly running due to the warmer weather. They had lots of sap onsale and for pancakes. The vacuum lines are still getting sap.
