I would have loved to take you up on that ride, but don't think I can get the day off work. I won't know fo sure until I go in tomorrow. I'm at Hwy #10 (Hurontario) and QEW but could get the bus north on Hwy #10 to meet you somewhere. What time would you be going?

Ok ok you caught me I guess I hit edit and not quote. Corrected

Well there is always a transfer at a mall as done in the past in the west end. Still time to decide.

It was you! I point my finger at you repeatedly! Editing someone's post like that is one way to make them think they've lost one's mind. :)

In the meantime, susan_photobug called me this morning to let me know she cannot get off work. Maureen, if you can update the list of who's actually in your car, and those who are inquiring can update their attendance, I can figure out if I'm hitching a ride with you or driving others.

Just a note to everyone to dress warmly as we are expecting a windchill.

At least it is fairly quick stop overs and then back into the van to warm up again.

Anyone who needs my cell # please PM me and I'll pass it along.

See you all tomorrow.

Maureen

If you can get to my place in Scarborough that would be great. Sorry but Pickering is the opposite way I am going.

Based on my knowledge of Maureen place, and the fact that Cambridge is to the west, I believe Pickering is more than a slight detour. Maureen won't be picking me up at my house either, as I live a little to the north.

I cannot speak for Maureen, but if you have a car and can get to say Kennedy TTC station or another meeting point in that vicinity, you might have a better chance of getting the final seat in her van.

If another TPMG member who's going lives in the Pickering area and can offer you a pickup, maybe they can chime up, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that option (but you never know).

The go train works too at Scarborough Go (Midland/Reese and St. Clair) or Kennedy Subway.

No, sorry not driving that way. Keep me posted as to if it is a go, so I;m not waiting and holding everyone up.

Temperature for Toronto for the morning is calling for -13C and feels -23C

Cambridge is going to be similar -13C and feels like -22C

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caon0109

CP24 is stating 3 layers of clothing (sweat, thermal, and wind layer)

Bundle up everyone. I know we'll be in and out of the van all day, but do dress warmly to be comfortable, from your feet right up to your head.

Hi guys:

Looks like we lost you when we did a turn and we waited for a bit but did not see the van by the Dover Mill. We then went to the Blair Mill and Sheave Tour but saw the "No Trespassing" sign and with the neighbours milling about, we did not take any photos though it was beautiful to see it. Not sure why there was no public access. We then went down to some of the mills in town as well.

Thanks Maureen for organizing this and meeting some of the other TPMG people.

Anne

Hey Anne,

I don't know what the deal is with those no tresspassing signs either. But we just ignored them, and went ahead and took pictures. The neighbors are the owners of the Blair Mill, and they didn't bother us at all. The sheave tower is awesome. We were at the Dover Mill, on the south side, so we obviously missed you. As we went to the park on the opposite side of the bank for a good vantage point. We also went into town and shot the Riverbank Mill and Dumfries Mill. We stopped for dinner around 4pm.

Thanks Maureen for organizing this day! It was fun, and I too am feeling the effects of spending the day out in the big chill.

Hey all 10 brave soles who braved the -28C windchill of today to see all the mills. It was a really great day. Sorry we kept losing each other.

As David said we went into the back of Dover Mills to the park and got a better view. The no trespassing signs at Sheaves Tower were new, not sure why they were there as that park as it belongs to the Waterloo Historical Society. Glad everyone finished off the tour despite our separation.

Would be great to plan this trip again in the spring when it warmer and see the changes.

As for the cold I was toasty warm, did feel the cold a bit in the tips of my fingers a few times and my toes when standing around for a bit near the end were getting cold. I think the toe warmers had warn out by then. I guess it helped to have so many layers on.

Hope everyone enjoyed the day. Nice meeting the many new faces we had out and the regulars too.

Thanks Maureen for organizing a great, fun outing.

As Annie had mentioned, we lost track of everyone after lunch. In a former life, we used to say there is no such thing as lost, "just emploring new territory"...which we did! Lots of sites for warmer weather.

Looking back at where we became disconnected, we ignored the "one way" arrows painted on pavement and slipped around and out the side entrance getting us onto the street quickly. Funny, we didn't mind ignoring the "arrows" but those "no trespassing signs" at Blair unnerved us.

Good to see everyone and hope to get out a little more often in 2010.

Al

I suspect you meant 10 brave souls... unless you were talking about feet, in which case it's 20 brave soles.

beautiful shots as usual guys. Here's a neat website, type in the title or tag of one of your pics and see what happens - I did catch one of Dave's pictures when I typed "blair"!
