What: 2009 Santa Clause Parade
When: Sun. Nov 15, 2009
Time: 12:30PM
Where: Dundas St. West/University.
Bring: warm clothes

OK. Believe it or not, my five-year old doesn't want to go to see the parade. Well, I still do. I love this event and it's a great place to take photos. To warm up afterwards, I suggest that Japanese joint by Much Music. I don't know its name but it's best asian food I have ever had and I'm sure it would satisfy your tastes. If driving down, look for $5.00 parking just west of University Avenue.

So far, I've been three times. I think Queen St. West and University Ave is the best place to be as you have plenty of time to get set up for the subject. You are, however, shooting against sky which most likely will be cloudy. Maybe someone has better suggestions? I see photographers walking with the parade but if we have a group of people that will probably result in confusion.

Anybody?

CORRECTION: . Turns out this year the parade will turn on Dundas and not on Queen St.

I'll be going to shoot this parade, but this time I;ll try doing it along Bloor, for 2 years now I've been at the University Ave. Maybe walk down as the Parade go.

I'll be marching in the parade so I won't be able to join you. I hope you'll be able to get some photos of Queen's York Rangers Corps of Drums (a flute band; likely one of 2 flute bands). This is not my photo, but shows our uniform:

Yeah, they changed the route maybe because this year there's a free breakfast at Yonge-Dundas Square. There's also a chance to warm up and do some shopping as well.

I'll look out for you janetliz. What instrument do you play? The flute, possibly?

Like Janet, I'm in the Queen's York Rangers band too, so I also can't join you guys. Look for the one carrying a u-shaped instrument with bars (glockenspiel).

That's actually a piccolo, which is smaller than a flute and an octave higher in pitch. We do have piccolos in our band as well.

I think I'm going down. I usually like to set up on Bloor close to Varsity Stadium, unless someone can suggest somewhere less busy or better viewing?

We found out that we are band #18. The band immediately before us the other flute band - Haliburtan Highlands. I don't know why they put the 2 flute bands back to back, and there will of course be a float and other marchers in between the 2 bands.
