What: Spencer Gorge
When: Sat 24 Oct 2009
Time: 12noon
Where: Webster's falls parking lot
Bring: Yourself, camera, comfy walking shoes, $5 admission (per vehicle); Optional: tripod

Spencer Gorge conservation area near Hamilton is where you'll find two (count 'em) waterfalls and a great lookout area at the edge of the Niagara Escarpment.

The plan is to meet at the Webster's Falls parking lot at noon, and spend somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour shooting at the falls. There are viewpoints at the top and stairs leading to the bottom, so it will take a while to get bored here. Then we'll walk along the hiking trail to Tews Falls and spend a little time here (there's only one viewing platform, so we won't be here too long). Then we'll keep following the trail to Dundas Peak, which is a nice lookout point. After the peak, we'll head back to our cars, and then, we'll find a place to go for food. The total distance will be around 6km, but the trail doesn't involve a lot of hills.

The fall colours will most likely be gone by the day of this event, but I'm hoping that this means there will be less people there.

I go all the time, this place is definatly worth the trip.. If I'm not working Ill definatly come out .. Also 2 minutes down the road is another falls Called Dundas falls which might be worth checking out...

Is anyone offering rides from either Maple/Richmond Hill or Toronto area? or even Pickering?

Sounds like fun... finally gonna make it out to my first group event, yay! :)

I have room for 3 people in my car, but I'm living in Burlington so the best place to pick up somebody coming from downtown TO would be the Burlington GO station. PM me if you want in on the ride.

Thanks for organizing this one John! I am unlikely to attend, as I have several things happening that day.

I would love to go, but I already have plans that weekend. Hopefully I can come out for the next TPMG event I really enjoyed my first time last weekend.

I'd like to carpool from Toronto downtown. I would prefer to get a ride, but could also drive (from Queen & Spadina) if no one else is driving from downtown.

I have 2 seats left for non-claustrophobic people in my Civic hatchback, leaving from Queen & Spadina area around 10:45. Or I could pick you up in the downtown core or along the way.

PM me if you want a ride.

I have something later in the day so I'll have to see if I can make it. Probably would have to leave early if I do go.

Just an FYI if you guys are going to be in the area. The Hamilton Zombie Walk is Saturday as well. Starting at 3 downtown and walking to Dundurn Castle. I am thinking it will take about an hour to walk.

Hope you guys won't mind dragging a new photographer (if I can call myself a photographer) to this event.
I just registered to TPMG and I'm thinking about taking avantage of this outing to meet people, introduce myself and learn.

Hoping to attend more events in the future, and looking forward to this one.

I would like to go, but I can only confirm at the end of this week (friday). If so, I can offer a ride for 3 persons.

The weather forecast still doesn't look too promising for this Saturday. I'll have a look at the forecast on Friday evening and if it still looks bad I'll postpone the event. The forecast for this coming Sunday looks good.

Rats. Can't make it Saturday. Sounds like fun. Maybe I'll mimic the trip on Sunday.
I'd like to do it with a couple of smaller dogs. Places like Edward's Gardens prohibit dogs. Do you know if the trail is dog friendly?
