Anyone interested to go to Don Valley Brickworks Park? http://www.lostrivers.ca/BrickWorksPark.htm
Awesome place to shoot. I usually bike there taking Belt Line from Allen Rd, through Mount Pleasant Cemetery all the way to Don Valley Brickworks and downtown to Yonge/Bloor.

You can drive there taking Don Valley Parkway

Or you can join me for bike ride  ...
p.s. you must have a mountain bike

Just keep in mind that access to the old brickworks buildings is no longer possible as there is a pretty large scale renovation project going on. The park itself is still open.

The park is about a 30 minute shoot.... the brickworks is completely under renovation, and a no-go zone.

Here are some of my shots:

I think it is a little too late for this. I believe the roof was replaced and major reno took place a couple of days after I took this :

I'm down for this for sure... I've been there a few times and most of the old building was closed there each time. Fenced off and stuff

This shot was taken in June

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/metrix_feet/3884217612/" title="Brick Works Deconstruction by Metrix X, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3455/3884217612_7852dc0ccc.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Brick Works Deconstruction"></a>

With on site demolition, reconstruction and the required security that goes with it The Brick Works as a photographer's right of passage is gone for ever. Over the years many good photographs came out of the place but after awhile they started to look like the same old same.

the original poster did say "brickworks park" and that is most definitely open to public.

I am interested in both the bike ride and the shoot. I have a hybrid bike though and not sure if it'd be able to handle the ride though. Have only been in Toronto for a couple of years so I have never been around that area.

:) I'd love to go and shoot there--depending on when it is and if I can get a ride.

I just went there yesterday to watch the sunset... its gorgeous... there is major construction going but still plenty of room to work with... you can even get some nice shots of construction if u have a telephoto lens. Who ever is still interested please register and then we can find a date that works best for all of us. Thanks

Its unpaved trail through forest so if your bike has shocks im sure you will be fine, it usually takes me 15-20 minutes to get to Brickworks Park but we can leave early and take our time and get some shots on the trail as well

Sure they aren't, but I tell you your wrists going to kill after, and its just better for the bike.

Okay sure... for the ones that never really rode off trail I suppose... sorry I don't count these trails in the city off trail :)

Don't know if this is the same park or not but on Saturday September 19 TVO Kids will be at Evergreen Brick Works, 550 Bayview, between the Bloor Street viaduct and Pottery Rd. Not to mention, there's a farmer' s market there as well until 1PM. So..... if you're like me and hoards of screaming kids is not a highlight of your life, pick a different date.

Not sure if I posted the picture right but I just uploaded some pic taken today on flickr...don't mind the quality, used an 18-50mm Sigma :(

Anyhow, I went down to see if shooting on sight with strobe light would be possible. I figure it would be a good theme...As of right now due to the construction, nobody is allowed inside. You can however walk around the area and take pictures from the outside only.

If anyone is interested to do a photo shoot inside, you'll need to contact the project co-ordinator to get a permit, I have her contact info....(I'm new to this and unsure if you're allowed to provide contact and email info in your post).

George
