PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF LOCATION AND TIME

What: Summer BBQ / Campfire 2009 - NOW AUGUST SOCIAL
When: Thursday August 20th 2009
Time: 7PM
Where: Beaver & Firkin, 16 Lebovic just west of Warden Avenue off of Eglington.
Bring: yourself!

Due to the likelyhood of thunderstorms for all day tomorrow, we have cancelled the BBQ, and now are calling this event, an August Social.

The time has changed from 6pm to 7pm and the location will be the Beaver & Firkin pub at 16 Lebovic in Scarborough at the Eglington Town Centre which is just a block west from Warden & Eglington. We were at this same location last month.

We will be rescheduling the BBQ in September. thank you, and damn you mother nature!

Do they supply the firewood?

This is listed for the Toronto Islands Picnic and fire pit permits. Not sure if it applies to other parks.

Just an FYI to everyone -- this site is TTC accesible. It is a bit of a walk down the hill, depending on which direction you come from, but you can take a bus which will take you to the general location of Woodbine and O'Connor drive.

it's been ages since I've been to a TPMG event and I may be able to come to this. And if so, I may be able to drive people from downtown (Yonge/College-ish). Will update when I know.

the weather forecast is looking really dire for Thursday. Obviously this can change but is there a rain date or contingency plan?

It looks like there are only 2 options for thursday if weather.ca is to be believed:

1. Someone needs to bring a big umbrella... around 20 feet across might suffice :)

2. Relocate indoors somewhere?

Hi Everyone,


We have not applied for the permit, due to the pending rain possibilities. If it is pouring, then the BBQ is going to be cancelled, and we will be making that call by 12pm on Thursday to give folks enough notice.

If its looking like there is not going to be any rain that day, then we will proceed with the same location, however it will only be a BBQ, no campfire due to the lack of permit.

The reason why we decided not to get the permit is due to the fact that all city of Toronto permits are non-refundable, and if we paid for a permit, and had to cancell the event due to rain, we would be out $125.00 or something like that. Thus, no permit.

Now the good thing -- is that if we go ahead with the BBQ, we will not get in trouble for not having a permit, as permits are only required for groups of 25 ppl or more in Toronto parks.

Anyhow, that is the scoop. So if we have to cancell the BBQ, we will be rescheduling it. BUT... if ppl are still wanting a social for that night... because you have all planned to come, we can look into a pub alternative, even though its a bit last minute.
