Details:

What: Harbourfront at Dusk
When: Tue 07 July 2009
Time: 8:00pm
Where: Southwest corner of Queen's Quay and Spadina <a href="http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=43.637506,-79.392054&sll=43.637506,-79.392054&sspn=0.000633,0.001277&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16">Click here</a>
Bring: Yourself, camera; Recommended: tripod, remote release

The plan: walk along the harbourfront, starting at the Spadina Music Garden, moving eastward to Queen's Quay Terminal or maybe the area by the ferry docks, shooting as we go. This is the night of the full moon, so after the sun goes down, we can try shooting by moonlight. Unless it's overcast, in which case we can try shooting by the light pollution reflecting off the clouds.

I would love to go too, but that coincides with my first night in my Photoshop course at George Brown...definitely a future asset!

"Where: Southwest corner of Queen's Quay and Spadina"

There's a map link above if you still don't know where that is.

By TTC you can either take 510 Spadina (which turns at Queen's Quay & Spadina), or 509 Harbourfront (which goes past QQ & S). Either you can board at Union Station...if you're taking the subway to Union make sure you follow the signs to the streetcar at Union because if you take the wrong stairs you can only exit the station rather than reach the streetcar.

You can also board the 510 Spadina at Spadina East/West subway station if you prefer.

According to The Weather Network website, there won't be much rain and it should be done by the afternoon, so we should be okay.

The weather looks very good now with no rain...I may even pack some flashes with gels to try some strobist after the sun goes down.

Thanks to everybody who came out. It was a bigger turnout than I expected, and I apologize to those who became separated from the main group (we did _not_ make it to Second Cup by 9:30). I hope everybody enjoyed themselves.

When we were at SecondCup at 9:30, we thought we were the main group

but anyway, let me share you this priceless shot first caught by Taylor

I was initially worried about the weather too. Thankfully, the sky cleared enough to have a pretty colourful sunset. Thanks to John for organising this, and I don't envy his job, which at time seemed like herding cats.

Here's a quick upload of a picture that caught my eye as I was transferring the files to my computer:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike-tan/3699693667/" title="Airtime! by mike.tan, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2575/3699693667_1c6de68722_b.jpg" width="743" height="1024" alt="Airtime!"></a>

This is my first skateboard/action shot, and I suck at photoshop (the title of a very informative youtube series, I must add), so anybody have ideas to improve this image?

Well, I can't resist adding my picture here. We were lucky to run into those skateboarders.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/riellanart/3700707646/" title="Popping out by RielLanart, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2659/3700707646_bee2863b08_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="Popping out"></a>

I love how he seems to pop out of the frame. The fingers almost seem to cast shadows on the sky.

Thanks. That shot didn't require cropping, just a bit of Lightroom presetting. haha.
