Details:

What: An evening at the Guild Inn
When: Wednedsay June 24th 2009 Time: Meet at 6:30pm or thereafter when you can arrive.
Where: Meet in the park behind the Guild Inn
Bring: Camera, Tripod, etc...

With longer days here, we have more daylight into the evening hours, thus I thought it would be appropriate to do another outing to the Guild Inn on a Wednedsay night in the middle of the week. We did this last year, and had a fairly good turnout. I brought along some candles, and shot some of the architectural feautures with candlelight once it started to get dark (hint). Maybe we'll wander down the road again afterwards and find a place to eat in Scarberia!

For those who don't know where the guild inn is:

http://www.toronto.ca/culture/the_guild.htm

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&q=The% ... a=N&tab=wl

The Guild Inn is accessible by TTC, and there is lots of parking in the front of the old inn. Rumor has it that they are going to be renovating the inn soon, so should be interesting to see whats going on there with the building.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED DUE TO RAIN PLAN

I'd like to go, but I've been taking Lindy Hop lessons this month on Wed. nights. It'll depend on whether or not I continue the lessons on Wednesdays into June....

I haven't been to the Inn since College. Depending on what my daughter is up to that night, I may be inclined to join in.

Actually, I just realized, that's a no-go...I have surgery that day. :(

No biggie. I'll be away all of July, so it may have to wait a while.... ;)

Just a warning the guild inn has a policy that you need a permit for photography (they make a lot of money off wedding photography). Just to make sure you don't get stopped best to call the office and let them know what you are doing.

This will NOT affect us. I have been to the guild on many occassions to shoot in large groups, and never been bothered by anyone. The chances of anyone even caring on a Wednesday night are nil. Those polices are mostly geared towards the Saturday and Sunday wedding traffic.

Yes, this is a factor! We may need to look at a possible rain date. If the rain is heavy, then I will probably cancell the event.

When/How will we know if the outing is cancelled due to rain?

Thanks!

Will make the call by 1pm tomorrow -- depends on the weather. If its light rain and calling for clearing later in the day, then its on. If its calling for heavy rain, and persisting all day, then it will be cancelled.

If it's still on make sure to bring bug spray or long pants/shirt... the bugs are bitting.

By the looks of it, the guild inn is more of a classicism/roman style, while gargoyles are usually gothic/neo gothic :) But I've never been there myself

I think the spud's got it roughly correct. Not much there in terms of grotesquery.

There are a few links at the end of the "Solo shoots" thread (stuck to the ad-hoc event forum) that you can check out.

So what's the word on the forecast?

I will have a new pinhole today, and want to use it!

There are some Gargoyle's....

AS FOR THE RAIN:

Looks like we better post-pone this one for next week. Sorry folks, forecast is looking like rain, rain, and more rain for the rest of the day. I am of course not stopping you from going if you want, but its going to be wet from the look of things!
