OK, time to resurrect the idea of having a medium / large format outing. I am thinking sometime in May - at Black Creek Pioneer Village. Just throwing it out there. I just called vistek to order a replacement for the ground glass in my 4x5. I hope they can get it, if not - I will have to find someone who makes them custom.

I'm in, I'll dust off the MF. Funny you mention 4x5, last time I was there I was at Sheridan College. We lugged our 4x5 kits from Oakville. I'll be looking forward to this but medium format this time ;)

looks like I might only be shooting 6x7 this trip.... although I did find a guy in LA, USA who custom makes ground glass, and said he can do one for my camera for $30. hell of a lot cheaper than the $225 Vistek wanted to charge me.

If you want to see what large format can get you in a print, you might want to have a look at this exhibition.

http://www.arcturus.ca/artists/group/Pl ... Light.html

Photography is by Sim Posen, an architect. My wife works with Sim, and I have met him many times. He shoots 8x10, 4x5, Pentax 67, and digital.

Yesterday, at the show's opening, Sim was telling us about shooting with an 8 x 10 camera in a 12th century mosque in Iran the '80's and the crowd he was drawing.

In the past, we have seen his prints printed to 4 ft x 5 ft. The first print you see in the show is printed to about that size (in glorious black and white). With Sim's large format negatives, he knows how to capture texture. He also understands the power of simplicity.

The Gallery is at 80 Gerard E, just east of Church. Hours are in the following page.

OK guys! Looks like the game is afoot. I just got the replacement ground glass for my 4x5 today (From Film Plus here in the west end of T.O.). So my camera is back in operation. Now, I just have to figure out what is in the film holders - I might have to eat the cost of that film, and just buy some new film, and get shooting!

I am hoping to do this outing in June. Just have to plug in some dates into my calendar, and will get back to you really soon.

That's good news, is the replacement reasonable?

it was reasonable - but hold the fort - just opened the box up, and realized that I am missing some parts to make it work, I must have put them in a seperate place when I put the camera way in the fall. I am going to have to look now for them. yikes!

Hope So! And now, I just have to find the actual glass mount holder for my 4x5 -- I put it somewhere in the fall when I cleaned up. And I am also missing one film holder. That will teach me for not keeping things all in the same place. I am going to have a good look next week, and then will announce the event for June at BCPV.

Yahoo! I found all the parts I needed for the 4x5. And I got the new gg installed, so all good to go. Watch for a date to be posted sometime this week.

Yup - Downtown Camera, Toronto Image Works, 8 Elm. There are quite a few places around. Apparently Colourgenics stopped processing all E6. Too bad.

Perhaps we should resurrect Lxdesign's resurrection of the larger than 35mm film shoot - perhaps in the next week or two? Lxdesign, are you more available now?

You don't need to wait just set up an adhoc event and they will come.
