Holy crap that was crazed fun. Might have been even more fun without being saddled by our gear. Been a while since I got that dirty and had that much fun in the mud. Great hiking, scenery and company!!

Ditto on the getting dirty and fun in the mud... that was some crazy bit of backcountry hiking while attempting to get to the last falls. Great stuff, would love to do it again!

falls in hamilton by Phil Marion, on Flickr

Nice shots everyone.

I've had to desaturate the falls because some of the shots were brownish (not the look I was going for).

I might darken and oversaturate one cuz I think it might look like we stumbled across the mythical land of DairyQueen and Ice Cappuccino Falls.

Thanks, the "mighty" 8 year old sensor? ;) It looks like I'll be able to go through the shots towards the end of this week.

Btw, totally dig the exposure balance you got between the background and foreground in your Tiffany falls shot. IIRC, the foreground was way dark. Did you selectively bring up the darks in that rock?

I've got a question for the group regarding neutral density filters. After the photowalk last weekend I want to buy a few flavours of ND filters and was wondering which brands I should be looking at that are best. I see a lot of $15-20 ND8 filters on eBay claiming to be like the HOYA pro series filters but I have a hard time believing that.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Berge

B+W tends to be the top screw in filter recommendation. If you want to spend the big bucks and wait on the back orders the Big Lee Stopper is the ultimate choice. Some good Hoyas fall below both of them, then Cokin.

yeah, depending on how strong you want the filter to be, Hoya are decent, B+W is what I use, but I only have the 10 stop filter, I haven't bothered with others. I also use a graduated ND from Singh Ray once in a while. I only wish my B+W was a slim UWA and not thick as I see some vignetting on my Tokina 11-16

What he said.

Most of my filters are slim UWA B+W with a Hoya or two thrown in. I more or less follow the rule of not putting crud in front of otherwise expensive optics.
