You should still be able to access the park from the North

Confused, anyone actually going to the Beaches tonight? I'm not a night owl & can't imagine driving 2 hours north after work & 2 hours back in the early morning.

I am going in the Beaches.
10:00 p.m. in front of Tim Horton's, Queen Street just east of Lee Ave.

But after spending few times I need to come back home as I don't have Car, need to avail TTC Subway for communication.

Been a while since I attended a TPMG event. I'm gonna try and hook up with the Beach(es) troupe. Barrens sounds interesting, but logistically not feasible for me for sure. Am interested as much to see some good technique in practise as anything.

Why the Forks? Is it higher ground there? Thinking of joining in since I don't have to work tomorrow :) Problem is, I've been up since 2:30am

I will be there. (Look for the guy with the telescope... hopefully with some additional people nearby, with cameras and tripods 'n stuff.)

See you at the beach!

hmmm

will the beach be better, or cheltenham badlands (or just a bit south of there)?

even if the beach isn't as good, i might head down there seeing as we have a bit of a TPMG crowd heading there too

hmmm

will the beach be better, or David Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill?

Debating on runaway from what I'm supposed to do at home and join our TPMG members at the beach or go to the nearest site DDO in Richmond Hill.

Any suggestions?

DDO was packed! Drove around for about half an hour to look for parking; found a spot at around 11:15, got to the observation place around 11:35 & got kick out around 1am. Hopefully I get at least 1 good shot. Will see.

Nice evening in the Beaches.

Dan, here's a description of that formula I was referring to:

Quote:
The simple formula for 35mm format is 600 / (Focal Length) = Maximum Exposure Time.

So, for example, if you're shooting with a 24mm lens the math would be: 600/24mm = 25 seconds.

Well, that was fun, in spite of the somewhat low meteor count. Thanks to those who came out. We'll have another go at it next year! :)

Torrence Barrens was a bit of a madhouse. Lots of people trying to look at meteors and lots of people being incredibly inconsiderate. Left the barrens and drove down the street a bit until we found a good spot at the side of the road. I saw quite a few but there was nothing spectacular. I don't think I got anything that I didn't get last week.

It was nice and quiet up around Shelburne. Lots of unused consession
roads to pull over on.

I woke up late, but managed to get to the Forks around just after 4am from the north side. I did stop on the way there on the side of the road, and it was clear and saw a couple. Seemed to be overcast when I finally got there and I didn't stick around as I was the only one there, and it was a bit creepy (yes, a bit of a chicken when when I have my gear on me).

Maybe it will be clearer tonight and see a bit of the leftovers?

It's in Caledon, north of Brampton between Hwy 10 and Mississauga Rd.

Went back to the place at Elgin Mills and McCowan last night during the peak. Saw so many cars parked by the side of the road on the way there.

This time my friend counted 75 meteors during the time we were there.

Here's one of them.

Thanks

And wow, if only there are places around Toronto dark enough to do that.
