I'm sorry I missed the meet, I was hip-deep in Exams at he time. Ah, well, I'll make it next time (and with more 4/3rds gear in tow).

And Rob, the Outlet no longer has an OM 50/1.8, it's on my OM2000 ;-)

Since someone reopened this thread, I just thought I'd mention that if anyone was interested B&H Photo has an E-P1 with 14-42mm for $589US:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/8 ... amera.html

Was almost tempted, but I'd want the EVF option which would mean getting an E-P2.

We almost need a dedicated TPMG 4/3 thread anyway. :D
Thanks to Rob for bringing the E-P2 and the EVF. I won't even consider the E-P1 now. Which is a good thing, because the E-P2 is out of my price range, while the E-P1 looks almost affordable.

Dammit! Oh well, I'll be picking up my 4/3 and OM adaptors at the post office, so it's time to start looking for another.

For those who couldn't make the last, I was thinking about another in early February.

Yikes! Been a while since I was around last ;)

Thanks for all of the Congrats early on in the thread! We've actually set a date for April 27 instead b/c we're doing it in the Valley of Fire State Park (north of Vegas). Just a handful of close friends and family and then a party when we get back!

Looks like I missed a fun night out! So sorry I couldn't be there but I'm sure we'll have another one soon.

@ Bruce - the lens was a 50 1.4. I had forgotten about the trouble you had with it! I'll have to give it a try with Live view now that I have the E520.

Whatever you do, resist the urge to shoot your own wedding. Just step back from the remote!! ;-)

Now that I have the E-P2, I caved and bought the 14-54 MkII which will do contrast autofocus. I've eventually got to stop buying new toys for a while

You got the E-P2?? I suppose that was the surprise you brought to the last meetup? LOL

How is it? Do you love it?

It makes a great carry-around camera. It's pretty much got the image quality of the E-30, but in a package that's almost pocket sized. I used it, exclusively, to shoot the two winter motorcycle shows and it did just fine.

I felt pretty out of place at the last show though; so many people with so many huge Canons and Nikons with flashguns hanging around their necks, but I just had this little thing on my shoulder

The newer version of the 40-150 4/3 kit lens is a perfect balance on it.

*EDIT* Anyone interested in a meet for February?

Lets' see what everyone else thinks too. Maybe earlier would be better than later?

So does Sunday the 28th make sense? Anyone have an alternate date that they'd prefer? Is everyone happy with the meet location we've used the last couple of times, or is there another that someone would like to suggest?

The 28th is good with me. And the location works too since it is central and subway accessible. As long as they don't mind camera equipment on the pool table that is. :)

If they ever give us grief about the pool table, then we can always monopolize a booth for "display purposes" ;)

Sundays are a no-go for me. I work every one! Time to open my own studio I think so I can make my own hours ;) If only it were that easy...

LOL

Well that sucks Sara. If you'd ever like to test drive the E-P2, just let me know and I could stick around some weeknight after work.

Did you mean Yonge Davisville?

As for the date it's out for me! :(

TCC is having an outing to Allen Gardens that day, and I haven't been on one outing this (membership) year. If it was an outside outing I'd skip it, but I really want to go on one TCC outing this year, and it's so nice to be in that warmth!

Not that I have any new toys (that I could bring)...been spending money on studio stuff since the last meet (light stands, backdrop, etc.).

If anyone can see a possible alternative day that works for the majority, then I'm all for it. Weekends are typically no issue for me until April. Friday nights are usually spoken for, but other weeknights are good.

Well, only if you want me there. For me previous Sunday is clear, and the following Sunday is clear...just not the 28th; but don't do it just for me.

Just trying to make it convenient for the largest number of people. If we CAN work everyone in, then we SHOULD ;)

I'm interested in coming to one of these meetups. 43rumours says the E-5 is probably going to be announced on Feb. 2 (something to talk about!) but I've heard store availability won't begin until March.

The date for the next Ex has been confirmed: it launches August 20, 2010.

The 27th (Saturday) is good for me, and then hopefully Sara can join us too. Also the previous Sunday, the 21st is fine with me.
