you are from Burlington -- you'd have to take the Go train in

Or drive in. Or already be in the city. I can make it to any subway station.

Ok then you have a ride. Likely York Mills though I'm not sure if the bus termainal is still using the parking area or if there is one near the exit on the otherside of the road.

Closest subway is Kennedy. Then across 401 and can stop at York Mills Subway. Up the 400 to the Wildlife Center.

I would plan on eating after wards before heading home.

4)John (noidea)
5)Pam
6)Chris (ions)

VAN IS NOW FULL

The big parking south of York Mills kiss-n-ride is probably open.
I drive by frequently and will try and pay attention to the Wilson/Yonge lot the next time I'm by.

EDIT: Went by and the Wilson/Yonge lot is indeed open.

You never know what might happen. But you must have your name on the standby list to get a PM if someone has to step off. And one person is in front of you right now.

Hi

I'm wondering if I could get a ride. I'm coming from Brampton, but I can meet up at any subway/bus station.

Let me know. Thanks.

As of March first the futurists have forecast rain for Orillia on Saturday. Snow Sunday. I know you said a decision would be made Thursday, just a head's up.

Keeping a "weather eye" on the forecast!

Yes, I saw the Environment Canada forecast. Their forecast is rain. Weather Channel says rain/snow mix. In either case wet and milder. I will hold off on a call until Thursday when we can still make the 24 hour cut off.

If we have to move to Sunday or the following Saturday (March 12) will that be fatal for anyone signed up? I have emailed the MWC to find out if the Sunday is open, or the following Saturday.

I'm OK with Sunday, but can't do next Saturday I'm out of town, or the following Saturday either.

That could be very detrimental as I have 5 passengers in my van who would then need a ride.

Let's hope the weather changes and we are OK for this Saturday.

I'm okay with Sunday and next Saturday/Sunday. I can provide a ride for three if it's next weekend. Carpooling of some flavour would be good.

Saturday certainly looks like a write-off. Sunday with snow is not much better. My preference would be next week - I was really hoping for sun.

I have heard back from the MWC and Sunday this week is fully booked. Even next Saturday is iffy. If we reschedule due to the weather and next Saturday/Sunday is not workable (getting into March Break) than we will likely not be able to get another date until the end of the month or perhaps into April.

Currently the weather forecasts remain the same; light rain for the day on Saturday for the Gravenhurst area.

Unless the forecast changes suddenly overnight we will have to decide tomorrow. We could take the chance and go despite the forecast and hope for the best. It is not unusual for Environment Canada to be wrong. But they always seem to be right when it is bad news. Or we will cancel and hope we can reschedule for later in the month (and hope that we don't run into other issues or another wet weekend).

I say we go despite the weather forecast. It can't possibly rain the whole day and even if it did, it might be interesting to get some wet animal shots :D There's no such thing as bad weather in photography :D

All the models are saying rain Saturday, not just EC. It's a long way to go and a steep price to get stuck in rain as forecast. Soggy animals and photographers are unlikely to make for good images. Let's try for next weekend.

The snow dump coming Wednesday should make next weekend more like winter.

If it's light rain, maybe we can still do it. Can we get a huge discount from the MWC if it rains and ruins our day?

Looks like Saturday and Sunday weather still doesn't look ideal. Perhaps a reschedule to a later date is in order unfortunately. I'm all for shooting in a rain storm but for the effort it takes to get there and the price of the event, I am now leaning my vote towards a reschedule.

Wet fur? I don't think it will be good. If it was snow I'd still be up for it. I think we should reschedule. If it wasn't expensive I'd say go for it anyway. But with the cost involved, I'd rather not go in the rain.

Hey

Forecast contiues to be RAIN. Except the amount expected has increased from 5 cm to 15 cm. I will check again when I get home but I believe a reschedule is in the cards.

The next available date/time if we cancel is Saturday March 26 with time set back one hour to start at 1:00PM until 4:00PM.

Is the 26th a show stopper for anyone? Keep in mind there could be weather issues that weekend as well.

I agree that with cost we don't want to accept really poor conditions. Snowy would be different as that could enhance the photos. Rain will just create a mess of wet snow or mud, soggy animals and struggles to protect sensitive equipment.

Well, it won't be THAT bad - but 15 mm of rain won't be fun either.
The 26th is OK for me.

Thanks for the update Daryl. 15 cm is a lot of rain! :o

It's disappointing but rescheduling seems like the right decision. March 26 is OK with me.
