If last year is anything to go by, it only develops a real live mood around 8:30, and peaks around 10:30.

I'd second meeting at 8, actually. Not too early, not too late either.

Earlier is good as there are less people and thus more room to shoot photos. Later is good as there are more people in costumes to photograph, though you have to fight the crowd more.

It's totally up to you folks as to the timing. Last year I handed out candy and came down later - 9ish and the party was in full swing with acts on the stage, etc...

I would imagine people could come anytime they want and join the others.

I personally may only be down around ten(ish).

OK folks, I have changed the meetup time to 8:00 PM instead of 7:00 PM.

How long does this last? I've got to hand out candy to the kiddies all night, then if the weather holds up I might come down (10ish).

The street party last late into the night... but you will find after a time that the area gets super crowded, and a little hard to get some snaps. At that point, you might just think about giving up and joining the party!

I have been 3 years in a row, and the weather seems to determine when that happens... last year it was so warm, so it was super crowded really early.

Of course, it was also a Saturday last year too, which likely impacted how early people were ready in their costumes...

I guess I sort of think it as an event where the crowds are an important part not just photos of people in costumes. But you do need some fast glass and high ISO to capture the mood.

I need some pictures for my Ryerson portrait course (again) and it looks like this is a good opportunity to get great shots.

See you at 8 at starbuck...

my halloween set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike-tan/s ... 712708134/

This year I decided to "screw ambient light sources", and went with flash instead, lots of flash!

Some of the pictures:

H1N1:

Another fun halloween over :(
Nice video Ryan, and every has some nice shots.
I left the 5D at home as it didn't go with my costume :)
Took the LX2 only. Shots came out better than I thought they would
considering the slow focus and small flash.
Here are some of mine.

Cute

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/timras/4067476178/" title="Witch by timras, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3533/4067476178_34426f2a45_o.jpg" width="466" height="800" alt="Witch"></a>

Scary

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/timras/4066725103/" title="Predator by timras, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3489/4066725103_dd71ce0c73_o.jpg" width="308" height="800" alt="Predator"></a>

On a Break

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/timras/4067475600/" title="Nun with Attitude. by timras, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2666/4067475600_fee18aee6e_o.jpg" width="577" height="800" alt="Nun with Attitude."></a>

good eye...
2008 = appetizer
2009 = the main course.
2010 = therapy? perhaps antacids for the parents?

how could you tell that they were the same people? At least from the pictures, they don't look too similar.

Was it obvious in person?
