Have you figured where in Kensington as the streets are very crowded.

No ideal places that I can think of:

Maybe towards either end of Augusta. The end with the park can be rather photophobic :) due to recreational drug use.

Here's one spot that i've seen musicians at.

This spot would hopefully work as well:

I'm down ! ... probably a better idea to hold this on a Sunday, when the streets @ Kensington are closed to traffic & there are more pedestrians ... ?

I can do Sunday the 10th or 17th if that works for you....

Not every Sunday the streets are closed to traffic only on the last Sunday of the month.

That's a cool idea, I'm just not sure how it works. Is it a public location? I thought Ontario Place was like an amusement park you had to pay to get into, hense, private.

not sure what the 'rules' are for shooting there - I know there have been TPMG shoots done there in the past & that starting this year, Ont. Place no longer charges an admission fee to walk around the grounds... just thought it would be a different vibe / get some cool shots... espesh if we're there in the evening - get some ambient light stuff first, then night shots, etc....

You could try shooting the beautiful people in Yorkville or the tourists down at Harbourfront

Ok, why don't we keep this one in Kensington and then hopefully squeeze one more in at Ontario Place mid-late July.

I'd rather everyone state their opinions and ideas now and we come to a consnesus. Then when the time/location we choose turns out to be a bust, I don't have to feel bad. "It was liane's idea!"

In that case IMHO Kensington will be a difficult place to set up more then one station and even that station unless it is far out of the main traffic stream in a none congested area will get grief from the paranoid locals. I'm guessing this from having extensive shooting experience in the area. My advice would be to do a trial run in the area before committing.

+1 on the paranoia, but having a mix of males and females and a setup seemed to cool some of the fear. We took pictures of each other until they got used to us being there and eventually people wandered over to see what was up.

I really don't mind doing thish shoot at either Kesington or Ontario Place, or even Harbourfront. The only thing that I'm worried about is the time/date. As long as I'm not working or volunteering,I'm in! :D

To be honest, though, I think Kesington is a really cool location to shoot at because there's always so many interesting things and people around.

I'm game.

I will be coming from Waterloo and don't really know the area well, so I am sure whatever you guys decide will be just fine.

I vote for harbourfront or kensington.
What about beaches if it's sunday afternoon?
Or the ferry dock

Let's do kensington on Sunday. If we don't try it, I'll just be wondering if it would ever work out and want to try it again. If it doesn't work out, we'll turn it into a photo walk or we'll hit the parking garage and take pictures of ourselves :).

The next one I think would be really fun would be if we did it in Trinity Belwoods park on a saturday afternoon/evening. It could be a shoot/strobist and social. Blankets, beer, frisbees and cameras. Sunny Saturday afternoons are really busy with interesting people at the park.

Tin foil, thin cardboard, spray glue, shower curtain, velcro and 2 hours of wasted time... Is it Sunday yet?

Exactly! Maybe we should develop a new product and put it on the market? ;)

It's a bit off balance but not by much. Over all it's a bit heavy. I think I'm going to remove the clamp and use velcro to keep the flash in place, it will save on a lot of wheight and allow me to direct the light a bit better. I've had a female hold it in it's current state and it was fine. Balance wise it's good, I'd just like to make it lighter. I'll probably swap out the SB-900 for an 800 too.

not necessarily the best time for a squad of photogs in full riot gear to descend on kensington:

yup, just that kind of place...

The police were tipped off because the Portuguese Baker was probably cutting into someone else's heavy drug sales
