saturday march 13th waterfalling:

What: waterfalling
When: Sat March 13th 2010
Time: 10 am
Where: Tba I'm thinking a timmys in Hamilton but I'll update when I get home
Bring: tripods nd filters food money boots

Yes another waterfall trip with more time to plan ahead everyones invited! I'm planning on hitting some new waterfalls and other cool spots on the way including ruins of a mill maybe lookout point etcetc I'll add more info when I get home to my laptop. All the places we go will be in hamilton . Oh and would I be able to hitch a ride aswell lmao I don't have a car:( I hope the warm weather keeps up and we can see some nice stuff let me know if you have questions!

Itinerary

We meet up at a Timmies Near Dundas Street East and Hwy 6 area. Have our pees and coffees around 10 am ish .. from there we can goto Smokey hollow falls, then over to Borers for a quick stop..
From there head to Websters falls .. Then After that Darnley Ruins and Darnley cascade/waterfall .. If time permits we can see either Dundas falls or Dundas peak and Tews Falls which I'm sure some have been too already (beautiful).. If not theres a few other waterfalls I can take you too :P and after all that if we want we can grab some dinner after at a nice restaurant in Ancaster? Maybe the Ancaster old Mill or even where I was defeated by the platter (see last waterfall thread)

any suggestions or questions let me know!!

I'll know closer to the actual day if I can make it (lots of family stuff coming up the next couple of weeks) But I can pick up anywhere around the 404/401 area if you need a ride.

Uhh put me down for a maybe. I'm local to this so it would be easy but I'm not sure I'll be free, this month is going to be crazy for me. If I am available there'll be room for 3 in my car.

That sounds like a cool outing. Was thinking of going out to the waterfalls.

How likely are we to get to the bottom of any of them looking up. Like I'd really like to shoot up at Borer's Falls from the base, but have not figured out the route to get from the conservation park trails up the valley to the falls.

Some of the other falls I have never been to, so it will be fun. Count me in.

With all the warm weather this week and expected this weekend, watch for be sure you watch for falling ice, thin ice, ice jams and surges in water levels. :-)

This is the same weekend as Performance World, so depending on the day I go there, I might be able to come to this as well.

Sounds good to me. I live only 2 blocks from the Go Station and from the water so I'll probably go down to the water and shoot the sunrise 1st--if anyone wants to join me. Just let me know where at the Go station I should meet you.

Sounds like you live in my building as those two things are true for me as well!

I was at Websters/Tew's on Friday afternoon.....At Websters if you park in the parking lot there there was a complete sheet of ice on the trail that lead to the bridge and then once over the bridge from the bridge to the observation area....stay to the sides and hold onto the fence....
At Tews its snow the the right and a sheet of ice on the left...walk on the snow
If going to dundas peak...there is dwindling snow cover on the path...it was a mix of snow and mud for about half way....while walking the trail look for paths to the right that will take you through the bush and avoid the mud a bit....when you get to the end where the path cuts to the right and leads you to the actual peak the mud is easily 4+ inches thick the whole way down! So make sure to have more than running shoes!
I'm guessing that with the weather this week the rest of the snow cover on the path will be melted and will be complete mud...hopefully the cooler nights will help to harden the ground a bit so the mud isn't as deep.

Enjoy everyone!

I'm hoping that I'll be able to join you- if I"m able to make it, I'm hoping that someone might be able to give me a ride in (I'm at Yonge Eg- could go north to station near 401 or downtown).

Incidentally, if folks like middle-eastern food, there is a first rate place in Hamilton - La Luna. They have two locations one on Concession and another downtown.

I think that's the weather you want.

The rain might not be good for people or equipment, but the clouds will make for better light.

I'm still a maybe. I'll probably decide by Thursday and either offer or ask for a ride (Don + York Mills).

Cheers,

My car is now full, we should be on the road by 9:20 the latest.

If any of the following people have a change of plans please let me know as it would free up a seat:

- Tyler
- Susan

The third seat is a friend of mine.
