Details:

What: Shooting with a Band
When: Sunday, November 6th, 2011
Time: 1PM
Where: High Park, Grenadier Cafe
Bring: camera, any lighting you want to bring, reflectors are optional
Cost: $10, going to the band since we're eating up their practice time :)

So my friend is in this band, and I figure we should make this a learning experience. Has anyone you knew asked you to shoot their album cover, or a band portrait for them?

Here is an opportunity to try it out. You will get time to talk with the band, and work with them to get some output for your portfolio and theirs. This will be different as you will become their photographer for a booked period of time.

I will have a signup for time periods when we have some names. You will have 45 minutes - 1hour of dedicated time with you and the band.

What am I there for? I'll be around to help, pointers, voice activated lightstand or reflector holder... Also, it may be easy to pair up with someone as I find its easier to shoot with someone else. If two people are splitting a time slot, just register once.

Band info to come! Getting their BIO and I'll post it here.

I was just thinking the same thing... perhaps be the "BTS" for each session.

What does everyone think?

Not interested in being shot .. perhaps one person on the waiting list could just take a bts video.

ok cool, would anyone want to have an assistant with them? or a second shooter? looks like we have enough to pair people up if they don't already have a pair made for their session

hey J can u explain your plan again! when is the end time for this event? do we (all) have to be here by 1pm and wait for our turn? so first person can leave once he/she is done and the last shooter will be there for the whole event!! are you thinking of having only 1 shooter at once and the next shooter will assist!!

So what I have planned is there will be a sign up for the registered members to sign up for an available 1hour time slot. During that hour, the shooter will have that time to chat with and shoot with the band. If someone wants a 2nd shooter, or BTS shooter, I would suggest asking someone from the wait list.

Here is the bio:

"Infectious melodies, upbeat energy, and a rhythmic stomp wrapped around a horn section, guitar flourishes, and keyboards, resulting in a super-enthusiastic band that promises bigger things to come." - Lonely Vagabond (http://lonelyvagabond.com/wpmu/)

The Cautioneers are a Toronto-based six piece ensemble, whose meticulous creative process has to date yielded a diverse body of ethereal, melodic, and driving indie pop/rock. The six longtime friends that make up the core of the band came together in early 2010, motivated by a desire to fill the creative void brought on by the culmination of their educative careers.

The formation of the band was immediately followed by a year of discovery and learning in which numerous challenges and changes shaped the members' characters and attitudes toward writing and playing music. A strong work ethic has defined the band from the beginning, and continues to be paramount in shaping their songs and energetic live performances. Recently performing in Toronto's NXNE and Out of the Box festivals, they have developed a loyal following whose enthusiasm parallels that of the band.

The Cautioneers have intricately crafted their debut offering 'Where We Are' (Nov 18) over the past year, which stands as a reflection of the growing pains, lessons, and renewed sense of direction the band has experienced from the very beginning.

Personal Information:
The Cautioneers are:

Stephen Cooper - Guitar and Vocals
Amanda Barroso - Keys and Vocals
Adam Silva - Drums, Percussion and Vocals
Brandon Johns - Bass guitar and Trumpet
Andrew DiBattista - Trombone and Synth
Greg O'Toole - Guitar

There is one spot left, so anyone on the waiting list can jump in
