What: War of 1812 Reenactment at the Backus Heritage Conservation Area
When: Saturday September 10, 2011
Time: 10:00 AM
Where: Initial Meetup will be at the bridge next to the mill inside the park.
Bring: Bring your lunch and snacks, water, camera stuff

Interest was expressed in trying out this event following the Civil War event. Next year will be the 200th anniversary of the start of the War of 1812. This is a chance to experience a reenactment event and be ready for the events celebrating the bicentennial next year.

Given the location of the park out in the country and the limited food available and the cost and line ups for said food on site I strongly recommend you bring lunch with you and we take a picnic break for lunch at some point in the fun.

I am in and can offer a ride out of Newmarket or somewhere on the way not too far from the highway.

Just checking if we can organize a ride, each driving a seperate car is not echo friendly

Hah... too funny, didn't see this until now. I am going to be there with SPOOM on a special tour of the mill. So while I have responded yes - I might not bump into you guys right away - as I have some official SPOOM business to do first, as we have our AGM. So I will probably meetup with you guys after lunch.

Looks like it will be a nice day tomorrow. Remember we meet at the bridge over the stream next to the mill inside the park at 10:00 AM. I am going to have an orange TPMG luggage tag visible so you can find us.

And as noted there is limited food available in the park, but bringing a lunch and drinks will save you frustration with line ups and save you money.

Thank you to everyone who joined me on this ad hoc. It was great to see everyone.

Turned out to be a very nice day. Lots of opportunities at the reenactment for great photos. The camp area was probably twice as big as when I went two years ago.

Sorry I had to leave before the 7:00 PM battle, but I hope everyone took even more great photos.
