Details:

What: Toronto Islands wandering
When: Sun. July 31, 2011
Time: 4:30PM
Where: The Ferry Docks
Bring: Liquids to keep hydrated, snacks and if you want to do some light painting, Lights!

So, I've decided I'd like to get out to the islands and do some Summer shooting. I'm going to do this on a come as you like basis, and if you want to meet up you can come at any point.
Otherwise I'll be aiming for the 5:00pm Ferry to Centre Island.

What I'd like to do while I'm there:
Wander through the islands similar to any of the winter photo journeys. Wander around pretty much the perimeter towards Wards Island. At Wards Island, set up for some dusk/sunset shots, maybe the odd time-lapse or two (short, of course).
And then if the sky is clear I'd like to do some long exposure Astral photography, and I'm thinking there will be room for light painting for those interested as well.

Depending on how long this takes I will be aiming for the 11:00 or 11:45 Ferry back from Wards Island.

If you care to join me, please do! I can be reached at 416 . 659 . 5627 so feel free to text/call.

Hope to see some of you out there!

I may join you just for the evening if it's really hot on Sunday. I like the dusk/sunset, time-lapse, astral, light painting ideas.

I'm thinking about pushing the start of this back until maybe 5pm or so as a start. But will definitely be there into the night for dusk/sunset and other dark photography ops!

Centre Island is the wrong end for city sunset shots best to end up at wards Island not the other way around.

I'm too lazy to it check but find out if there are any Caribana festival events on the island. usually the island is packed with Caribana partiers as there are huge events on the island.....and HUGE lineups to get on the ferry - both ways. I suspect that things might be different this year as the whole event has bee reorganised under a new corporation and I see some events are happening in Ontario Place. If these are replacing the island events then the island ferry lineups shouldn't be too bad. But if they still have Caribana events on the island then be prepared for loooong ferry lineups.

Checked their website and there's nothing listed for the Islands so hopefully...

Thanks for the information guys!
I had anticipated that there might be things going on, there is always the possibility. I'm honestly not too concerned personally with having to wait a little while. If there is something making me wait, there are probably things I can photograph while I do so!

looks like the re-organised committee has scrapped the traditional 2 day event on Olympic Island and scheduled things around the GTA like Ontario Place & Wild Water Kingdom

That's the right attitude it's not as so you are stuck behind a truck on the freeway for an hour.

I might get out depending how the car free Sunday in kensington market works out.

Sounds good, I've spoken to a bunch of non TPMG'ers but because it's a long weekend, FEW have decided on any sure plans. There may be others, but I might just be a sole shooter.

I WILL be out there though shooting until either my batteries die, my memory fills up, or I fall into the lake!

Metrix: I totally forgot about the good ol car free being this weekend, but I think I'm going to take my chances on the island still, so do holler if you are going to come out afterwards!

Okay, I am SO there for sure now!

Whatcha lightin' on fire, and can I help out with the supplies? Steel wool? Sparklers?

I'm a newbie to this whole fire thing so I don't know what all can be implemented or the best/easiest places to get them, other than steel wool.
