I took my point-and-shoot and enjoyed the racing and atmosphere instead.

don't try it ....

I bought my camera with a 28-105 to a concert ... and they said it is a professional camera since you can change lens. Can't use it at all...

I went in 2009 without issues. If it's free, getting kicked out isn't the end of the world.

[hijack]

For those who are going tomorrow, in lieu of your admission fee which is being covered by Honda Dealers of Ontario they ask that you drop a few $$ off as a donation for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Honda Canada.

I covered this event last yr and on Friday which was free last yr also there was very little security. I was at turn 1 and regular people were coming up to the photo window taking pictures.

Don't know if it'll be the same this yr, just giving my FYI from last yr. To bad I'm out of town for this years race or I would of covered it again.

Also don't forget to shoot the Bud Girls!

What time are events running until tomorrow?

I have been to the Toronto race for many years as a regular visitor now, and this is the first year that I am truly frustrated by the amount of fencing. With recent shoots at Mosport where there are few fences, I found those turns far more enjoyable.

However, after the first day, I have a tonne of pics -- mostly drivers and hardly any cars on track.

The schedule of events can be found on their website http://www.hondaindytoronto.com, I think.

I ended up not going this year :(

I almost went a few of years ago as they were selling VIP photo passes (before the indy changed ownership). It would allow you to shoot stills from certain locations but it was expensive. Still the best shooting locations would go to the media photographers and then the very best spots usually go to the media with highest circulation.

I'm not sure if they still offer the VIP photo passes for non accredited photographers. It may be something to look into if you want decent pics.
