Details:

What: It's A Medium Format Thing
When: Tuesday March 22nd (Wing Night)
Time: 7PM
Where: The Foggy Dew Irish Pub, at 803 King St. W. @ King & Niagara
Bring: Medium Format Gear

Now that the nicer weather is around the corner, I am hoping to get out a little more with the medium format gear and do some more shooting. Whether you shoot film or digital, bring along your medium format gear, and lets do some eating, discussing, and maybe even a little shooting before if folks want -- or we can plot some future shooting dates, and idea's.

I'll bring along both my Mamiya and Hassy kit. See you then!

Does it shoot 120mm film? Yes = then its a medium format camera, and you can join in on the fun! Who cares what kind of camera it is ... its medium format!

It's just 120. Not 120mm.

Yes, purists prefer to say just "120"

Playin Devils Advocate here....

What if it's a 620 retrofitted to fit 120? :D

I shoot medium format on a variety of antique cameras, a box brownie, a baby brownie special, a koda brand DLR. I also have a couple of Holgas but for some reason I have more fun with the antiques.

Anyway, not sure if I can make it this Tuesday as I have a lot of work to wade through, but I do look forward to getting together another time to shoot and discuss the merrits of medium format.

no problem, I am sure we can get more table room if needed. Tuesday nights are not usually that busy there. Especially now that St. Patty's is done.

(This is my 7000th post at TPMG)

Hi guys,

What a great little meet up - and awesome pub. It was my first time at the Foggy Dew, and I'd definately go back again.

It was good to hang out with all of you, and see some great medium format camera's. And as promised, I'll co-ordinate something with Shaun for the future with large format, and a developing tutorial.

Jen, I didn't even try to figure it out last night when I got home, I just put the bag in the closet, and went to bed. I'll have another look again on the weekend. I haven't started using the Hassy kit yet, so I have lots of time. That's why I am not so upset about it, its probably some lever or button somewhere, and I just need to research the problem. The Mamiya is my main 120 shooting camera.

I am going to schedule some photo walks upcoming in April, and June. So look out for more to come.

David

Len's idea:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5554982722/" title="Len's idea by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5223/5554982722_4baac9fdda.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="Len's idea"></a>

You can kind of make out the spindle in the back. (Trying out my new light tent and have only unpacked the black backdrop)

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5554982414/" title="Len's Idea by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5256/5554982414_5d77e8859a.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="Len's Idea"></a>

The one on the right is pushed all the way in.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/5554396843/" title="Shot 40000! by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5182/5554396843_8e34d8b753.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="Shot 40000!"></a>

Is this third one gratuitous? Well, it's shot #40000 from my D80!

And the link that seemed relevant last night:
http://photo.net/medium-format-photography-forum/00VJrq

I had a great night checking out other gear, and breakfast! Thanks for organising, Dave.
