Update on the Manfrotto Macro Flash Bracket:

Jordan, Ben and I saw a guy with two SB800's mounted on a flash bracket. He showed me his results, and he said the bracket costs about $60.

I did a search on B&H and found the bracket. With shipping and duties, the total cost is about $76.

Here is the link:

Pretty handy if you already have two flashes and don't have $800 to burn on a dedicated macro flash.

Hi Shelley
The link takes me to a monopod.

For those who are interested in macro set ups, here is a great link.

Shelley - Vistek sells the same bracket for $76 (plus tax) - although do not know if carry it in store. So that is also an option.

Great Link Nigil. Thanks.

Funny that the link takes you to a monopod. The full name and number is:

Manfrotto 330B Macro Flash Bracket

Maybe it is subconscious as you know Jordan is looking for a monopod as well. The link seems to go to an empty cart now. Here is a link to the page with the Manfrotto bracket and others at B&H.

And the Manfrotto bracket at Vistek.

Holy cow. Look at some of those rigs. Give a man some duct tape and scrap aluminum and they turn into MacGyver. LOL

My thanks to Daryl, Jordan, Shelley and the rest. I had a great time -- it's always a pleasure shooting with the big macro lens even though I should have dialed in a little more depth of field. Focusing manually doesn't help me either. I probably should have switched to back-button focus.

Next time I may bring a flash and maybe one of those funky rigs, or an upgraded body that might be less jittery on autofocus.

I purchased the Macro flash bracket support from Henry's Downtown. It is currently $10 less than Vistek.

Sweet Shelley - definitely like to get myself one of those - but I have my priorities first - new tripod head (bought today - got Vistsek to match the price from thecamerastore.com) and now saving up for new tripod (I just realized my current one is more beat up then I thought - not good!)
